Seems like Yadarnabon has a very tight solid team, with good local players + foreigners.

Kanbawza is not as tight since some names are pretty unknown to national team importance.

Kanbawza's Soe Myat Min was injured during the match against Yadanarbon. He will miss AFC President's Cup.

Only one round of games? I thought two rounds. That's pretty sad. Not enough of the round robin yet.

Ygn vs. Yadanarbon should be giants game since they represent two biggest cities of burma, Rangoon and Mandalay.

I would like the see the 4th minute goal by yan paing and the 5th minute goal by Naing Oo Lwin. How old is he?

Games are improving. Teams are gelling. Attendance is good too. For Yangon vs. Yadanarbon's game, it was almost full, and YDNB's captain Khin Maung Tun said that he has never played before such a crowd for a local game.

Maybe I'm not used to these games. But although they play messy football, and sometimes I think they are not that good, I have a feeling if teams like Yadanarbon or Magway are to compete with foreign teams, like Kanbawza recently, they'd be able to compete. Perhaps it's just the way myanmar teams play.

Locals seem to be enjoying this league. Perhaps it's patriotism, and partly the excitement at the games.

I'm looking forward to Magway vs. Kanbawza. And Magway vs. Yadanarbon. These two games would probably decide the top 2. As Yangon United has played these 3 teams, they just need to wait and see. Provided these teams do not lose points to Delta United or Zeyar Shwe Myay.

A very good review of the league by US Wall Street Journal, with Video. A US perspective. Interesting review and video.

Amid Myanmar's Gloom, Pro Soccer Gives Locals a Chance to Cheer - WSJ.com

    From Wall Streets Journal

Amid Myanmar's Gloom, Pro Soccer Gives Locals a Chance to Cheer Under the Police State's Watchful Eye, Fans Brave Monsoons, Vendors Hawk Betel Nuts

    By A WSJ STAFF REPORTER
YANGON, Myanmar -- On a recent stormy evening here, a soccer player fired the winning goal to give his team, Okkthar United, a 2-1 victory over Delta United. Running with his arms outstretched, he veered towards the sidelines while thousands of fans screamed and smashed cymbals and drums.

Public displays of emotion are uncommon in Myanmar, a secretive police state. It's technically illegal for more than five people to gather in one place, and while ....

I've created a facebook group for Yadanarbon FC.

    http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?success=1&id=529275995#/group.php?gid=97146128702

I'd support yangon, but I just created one for yadanarbon just to have more myanmar team groups. I support the league generally.

Please join to support if you want to. :D

I'm wondering if anyone here could help me tell people in myanmar forums, such as myanmarcupid, like the way i found yangon facebook group, about this yadanarbon group. I'm not good with Burmese, I don't know how to go about those forums. Thanks.

Also I'm looking for officers to help me update and make it attractive. No heavy responsibilies attached, only update when free. :)

I don't mind creating group for Kanbawza as well, if there's any fans out there who wanna join. Yangon Utd has lots of members and very active on Facebook.

Delta 0-2 Yangon (Soe Lin Tun 4', Kyi Lin 28')

Yangon finishes league round with 16 points. Almost sure of final place.

Yadanarbon plays Okkthar United, and if Yadanarbon wins, they will have 17 points, will safely reach the final by topping the table. They are likely to win this.

The only way for Kanbawza to get to the final is for Yadanarbon to draw or lose. The max. points KBZ could get is 15, which means they will finish behind Yangon no matter what. So they need Yangon to finish as 1st. If Yadanarbon draws and finish with 15 pts as well, KBZ has a chance to be better at goal difference.

Magway could get to final even if Yadanarbon wins, but they'd have to win their last match by 3 goals or more, as they would finish same points with Yangon and inferior in goal difference & goal scored. Their last match is against Kanbawza, it would be tough to beat them by that margin.

Which means final is likely to be Yangon vs Yadanarbon.

Okkthar United 0-2 Yadanarbon FC (Yan Paing 9' (pen), 40')

Yadanarbon advances to the final of Myanmar National League Cup 2009, by "winning" the league round with 17 points.

Comments by Yadanarbon's coach Rohan Girard. (Translated from soccermyanmar.com)

"We had many chances and could have scored 4 or 5 goals. But like the teams we've played before, Okkthar is difficult to play against. Although the young Okkthar players are not experienced, they were able to give us a good game. We did very well in the second half, such as our passing game. Yan Paing wasn't feeling very well, he recovered only 3 days ago. You can tell from his game. However, with some good opportunities, he was able to score goals. Because Okkthar's players are young, they had physical advantage. Even though it seems like all hope is lost for them to win, they continued to give their best tirelessly. The final, whether it's against Yangon or Magway, is going to be a tight and exciting game."

Yangon, with 16 points, is 2nd, which means Kanbawza is out of the competition as they could only get maximum 15 points even if they win their last two games against Delta and Magway.

Magway at 13 points with their last game against Kanbawza. But they have to win by 3 goals to advance to the final as 2nd in league.

Valery Sanou of Thailand's Muang Thong United has officially joined Yadanarbon, and made his debut in 2-1 win against Magway. He also played in 2-0 win against Okkthar.

Yadanarbon has another foreigner at their disposal, Lassina Kone, who is out injured and would only play in the 1st official league season in 2010.

It says maximum 5 foreign players? Or minimum? So far, with Lassina and Valery, Yadanarbon has 6 foreign players.

    Gnonsian Patrice
    Kambou Ollo
    Babo Landry
    Toure Abdourahime
    Valery Sanou
    Lassina Kone

    Kanbawza 1-2 Delta United

    A surprise upset.

Actually Delta has potential, with Argentinian players, although their local players are not as good as the likes of the top 4. But with good training and teamwork, they've beaten a top team.

    Goal Scorers

Kanbawza - Soe Min Oo (48')

Delta - Tin Zaw Moe (52'), Tun Lin Aung (56')

Discovered something today. I can only find thai websites in Thai language so I can't confirm, but Yan Paing seems to be linked with a move to Muang Thong United.
