Give me a break! Now he gets signed and "always heard positive feedbacks"? Just take a look at old posts here and on USL discussion boards on what is really being said about him....Did'nt even play the last CCC game nor on Saturday's friendly....Is that positive enough for you?

Nothing against the guy, but not a significant resume:
    Yenier Bermudez
    Cuba's under-23 Olympic soccer team
LA Blues... Semi-pro team in Pacific Palisades, California playing for prize money on the local scene. Playing alongside lester More who was actually released from this team earlier in November due to lack of stamina and poor performance.

    ischia,

Just curious, and dont take this the wrong way, are you these guys agent? You seem to know alot about them and admit to know the guys.

As to Alonso, I could be wrong, but Im going by an artilce that was published in the local paper last year about Ozzie. If I remember right the fact that he was offered a contract was in quotes. Ozzie's words. Ill try to find the article later

Also the Battery has their fair share of "experienced" players. Armstrong, Wilson, Fuller, Akawari, Yoshi, Hudock, Bobo, are not college age by any definition. I think they are all over the age of 28. Off the top of my head I dont cant think of one that came straight out of college. quick look is that the youngest kid on the team is Woodbine at 20 the next three are Ciancianrulo, Patterson and Hemmings at 23 the rest are born in in 1983 or earlier.

I still hope we see a few more signings for depth. Perhaps the Battery is going to sign a couple players in July like several teams did last year? could help with the dog days of summer and help in the run up to the play offs.

Something smells a little fishy of ischi....in my opinion. There's definitly some bit of bias here...and that's OK. This is professional soccer (at least that's what they call it...) and things don't always work out.......see my post in the Alcantera thread...

All this is very confuse I just want to wait and see what happen. About Bermédez say that he was the Captain of the Cuban Olympic team and last year he played with the Fluminense FC of Puerto Rico League (Beetwen August and Octuber of last year, together with Yordanis Alvarez, who has been signed by Austin Aztex, and Yaikel Perez, the big cuban that try-out with the Battery in February and now is playing with the PR Sevilla FC the Caribbean Champions Cup). I never heard about him in any post or news related with the Charleston Battery for wile I though that he no even play. In other hand I always read good thinks about the way Faife was playing but the news are that he has been cut from the team, is really confuse. May be this can clarify the situation for those who watch the CCC, Faife is a short, speedy guy, he is a left midfilder went Bermudez is a talk guy, central defender
For Ischia, I was looking all over for that LA team that you talking about but the only think that I foud is a women team, are them play for a women team? :D and when Bermúdez played for them since he was in PR last year

I'll admit I find the Bermudez signing confusing too (keep in mind there has not been an official statement from the Battery yet on this either). I dont remember Bermudez during the CCC and defensively we have a pretty good line up, my starting line up would be Wilson, Akwari, Bobo and Sanfillipo with Woodbine slotting in easily enough. I guess he would add soem depth and he might benifit from working with some experienced guys for a year and get some experience.

Faife looked lively in the midfield. i remember him vs. DC and thought he looked like a good scrappy player, kind of reminded me of Alonso. I know USL teams are only allowed seven international slots and we have six signed right now.

There is a preseason match today so maybe we can get someone who is going to see who is out there playing. The official roster has 17 people two are still in indoor and two are keepers, that leaves only 13 field palyers, typically the Battery has carried a roster of around 24.

I don't know what is the status of Faife, Bermudez and Alcantara but if them have a green card or them holding a refugee status them don't count as internationals.

LA Blues is a semi-pro team in LA and they also have a womens team called Pali Blues, don't confuse the two. Bermudez did train with the Puerto Rican team but was never signed, only on a trial basis. I am happy for him with his recent aquisition by the Battery and the news should be released soon. Fife was cut last week from the battery and the news did not shock me. Since his defection in Oct. he has not been active, never triained with any teams and as of result is out of shape.

Fishy? What you think I am plotting something? What are you talking about? First and foremost, I am only trying to share my insights with the fans who are interested about players and the team. No on here is bitter because things didn't work out, only the facts are shared and the rest is up to you guys to analyze. I know there are always two sides to the story and for this reason I post here for the fans and people who read this thread because the players don't have a web site or the same channel of communicaiton that is available to the team. I, in no way, shape or form represent any of the Cuban players and my intentions here is only to share, discuss soccer.

Trust me he played with the PR team. You can look at the PR soccer league web page and look for the reports of Fluminense FC games, you will see his name together with Yordanis Oropeza (Yordanis Alvarez) and Yaikel Perez, who recomended both for the team, he joined the team in september and was a key player for the team in his run to the play-off. You may confuse with Yendry Diaz or Eder Roldan the two cubans that try-out with the PR Islanders

All I know is that you seem to have a LOT of insider knowledge that the ordinary fan does not get.....and you used that knowledge to stir up a lot of angst over the Alcantera situation....you most certainly WERE bitter, and from what I can gather, you were the only one that was bitter about it. A few people have spoken out against that bitterness and you seemed to have relaxed your stance a bit. If you're going to throw stuff out there, and then tease us with "more details" that never materialize and say you're respecting privacy when you weren't so worried about that privacy in the first place, I'd say prepare to hear some comments, which you have....wow--can you say "run-on sentence?" Sorry for such a long sentence without taking a breath. I think the discussions are great...but watch the attitude when someone questions what you say...just my opinion.;)

Lose credibility? Why? because I am upset how this player was treated?
It's funny that you are so quick to judge me and not a word as why this player got the short end of the stick? Face it, Anhaueser and the GM totaly f---ked up. We are fans who go to the games, buy tickets and merchandise and support the team's structure! No?

Obv. Auggie has done something right because we made the playoffs last year, made the US Open Cup finals last year (were screwed in the outcome), and have had players get called up to MLS (the mark of a good team when "higher" teams are calling their guys up)....i question him more on how we play on the road then the talent he goes after.
