Of the 2, Sao Lourenco looks like the better choice even though they played disastrously yesterday at home (although Liberdade was a very tough opponent and although Sao Lourenco pressed in the end). I just don't think Estudantes can do much - if Veron gets injured tonight, then what? They still have to face unbeaten Cruzeiro, albeit at home. Rio da Prata, well, they have a good team and Gallardo is good. But they lost 5-1 to Sao Lourenco the other day... which doesn't mean much because Lanus is tops in your country's league yet floundering in the Libertadores. Let's just see if Rio da Prata can do better than last year (probably one of the more unforgettable games I've seen in recent memory not involving Brazilians).
they get Florianopolis right but they get "Sao" a three letter word wrong, ummmmmmmmmmmmm very questionable
And all this time I thought it was Florianapolis. 'Figueirense Florianapolis'. I guess you learn something new every day. Oh and Estudiantes is looking good tonight so far. Up 3-0 in the first half.
ok apart from this controversy, i know fifa sucks, that's why i played winning eleven AYYYYYYYYYY how many cities can brazil have? i would choose RJ, SP, Recife, Fortaleza, Belem, Manaus, Salvador, Brasilia, Goais? , Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Porto Alegre that's 12 cities... plus 2 stadiums for RJ and SP
Yeah, that's the only one I remember. River finished undefeated with 16 points in 2005, and so did Velez in 2006 (also 16 points). Both teams used subs in their last game, in which they tied.. if they would have used their starters they probably would have finished with 18 points as well. Either way, though, both still finished undefeated. Santos is the only one that finished with 18/18 points if I'm not mistaken.
Boca Juniors is halfway there. They got 9/9, and should be favored to win 6/6 at home. But getting 3/3 in Ecuador will be tough.
Their not doing too well in the league, their in 7th place but I can see them getting their act straight and going back to the top pretty soon. Nacional and Guarani are just humiliating the Paraguayan league. Cerro Porteno, Luqueno, and even the new Olimpia would have performed better.
america de mexico was once 16 points, i think in 2002 when they had river, tallares an cortulua another team was palmeiras 2001 with 16 points, cruziero 16 points, and vasco de gama with 18 points, probably thr best brazilian clubs participation in a while, well 2005 was a final disputed by brazilians but 3 points that made more than 15 points!!!!!!!!!!!
Exageradisimo el resultado del partido de Nacional-River, pero bue.. River no merecio los tres puntos, pero tampoco era para goleada de los Uruguayos. Ahora hay que obtener los puntos en casa si o si.
River was pressing for the tie, and I thought it was coming, when disaster happened. I still don't understand what exactly your goalie tried to do in that play. He's definitely a candidate for Goat of the Week.
Yeah, Barbosa had a really poor match. Gorosito has mentioned several times that the best GK will start. Does Barbosa's performance tonight mean that Ojeda or Vega will be given another shot on Sunday.
Glad you like it... until Spanish America writes Portuguese names in PORTUGUESE and not a Spanish version, I'm doing the same...
Do you guys have a short memory or something? Vasco da Gama went 6 for 6 in 2001, including a win in Montevideo vs. Penarol. Romário still had some game in him then, but if I recall correctly, he was injured and hence unavailable when Vasco faced Boca in the quarterfinals. Boca won in both Rio and Buenos Aires.
In your team's defense, anyone who watched the match will agree that Rio da Prata was going on offense aggressively, pressing Nacional, and they were preventing the hosts from doing much in the second half. I for one thought a draw was a matter of time given the manner your team was approaching Nacional's net and the tough saves your players forced Nacional's goalkeeper to make with longer-range shots. Give credit to Nacional, as well, though: they capitalized when they had those chances. This was perhaps one of the more entertaining games to watch in this Libertadores, the score notwithstanding. It was, IMO, vintage Libertadores: 2 teams with a "warrior" attitude, neither giving up, players fighting for each possession (and of course, the rough and tough physical play - what else to expect when Uruguayan and Argentine soccer teams meet?), a few "misunderstandings" between both teams, trash talk, and at least one ejection. Not to mention great fan atmosphere, and in a classic South American venue: Centenario. That young Uruguayan player was foolish. It was bad enough he was involved in that shin collision with that CARP player - what was he thinking talking trash with him on the ground in pain in the referee's full view, a few feet away? I won't forget to watch the return match in Rio da Prata's stadium. It will probably be even more hard-fought.
Not to mention that he also kicked him in the ass in front of the ref, while the guy was laying on the floor. Yeah, it was dumb.
