Cheers, I love it when the CCC chat starts to pick up - gets me thinking about the upcoming season.

Really wish I could make it to Charleston, I know the RPBs coming down are really looking forward to it.

I'm going to try to come to one of the Saturdays, going to wait and see how schedules (both mine, friends, and the cup's) work out to see which.

What time do the games normally start?

    DC's schedule, per Goff:

March 7 vs. Real Salt Lake in Charleston, S.C.
March 11 vs. Toronto in Charleston
March 14 vs. the Battery in Charleston

I'm hoping to come down for the first one, along with the Food & Wine Festival going on...

Get your tickets for the F&W as soonas you can. The daytime wine events at Marion Square sell out quick.

    Greetings Battery Board-

Me and a buddy or two want to come down to your fair city the weekend of the 7th and catch the doubleheader. (Looking forward to your tailgate as well!)

We're gonna fly, and are wondering if we will need to rent a car. (Would rather not with all the drinking planned :D )

We will probably stay downtown to make the most of the visit.

How hard would it be to get out to the stadium and back without a rental car?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Getting a cab is about your only bet if you dont have a car, if your going to stay downtown. You could walk everywhere if you were staying strickly downtown but to get to the stadium (a good 15-20 drive) you'll need a cab or a rental car. a cab but it probably would cost $15 each way. car rentals can be ahd for about $20-$25 a day.

Also that weekend is a big food and wine fest downtown with bobby flay and a few other bigger names you'd recognize from the Food network. dont knwo if that is going to effect availabliity or the price of hotels and rooms.

also FYI, a large contingent of DC fans are coming down the following weekend (mar 14) Hope you have a good trip and if you have any questions leave them here or PM me.

My group and I are going to the 3/14 games, and it looks like we could have as many as 7. Do you think we should pre-order our tickets so we can sit together, or would it be easy enough to buy some bleacher tickets when we get there and all be in the same section?

Definitely looking forward to it, my next 6 weeks should be exciting between going to the CCC and qualifier in Nashville.

Excellent Fish! You guys should make an "Upstate Brigage" banner! here is a quick tutorial for a two stick banner
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blNKbyzJpwc"]YouTube - Two Stick Banner[/ame]

I seriously doubt the matches sell out. I think the largest attendence in the past is around 3500. blackbaud sits around 5100.

Just by bleacher seats on the night, and join the Battery faithful. will be in section E10.

we will be tailgating before the matches around 3 or so. We'll be set up by the East stand entrance. there are about 30-40 Toronoto supporters that will be there and probably about the same DC fans. A couple RSL fans said they will be in town too. It should be a great night.

bring your voices, the matches against DC are always alot of fun as the Coffee Pot Cup will be up for grabs.

Definately want to drink from the coffee pot this year....

things are moving quickly toward kick off

    here are some Highlights

TAILGATE 3pm Sat. We'll have food and beer. feel free to bring more beer or beverages. We will be set up next to the East Stand entrance so look for a tent, grill, flags, and tons of soccer fans. come by and hng out for a while, meet some fo the folks from DC, Salt Lake and Tornoto that are making the trip. Get some food and a beer to two and get ready for a good night of soccer.

You'll also have your shot at picking up the new 2009 Battery supporter scarf and a 2009 Carolina Challenge Cup t-shirt. We'll have them all week (Scarves into the season as well) but supplies are limited!

Champions League Madra Rua is the place to watch the second round of the Champions League matches. I think kick off is around 2:30pm so come out and enjoy.

Pub CrawlThursday night. Details will be posted in a separate thread and flyer will be handed out with the itinerary, map and important numbers at the games. Hope to see a good turn out.

EPL viewing Sat am at the Madra Rua. ManU vs Liverpool is the big match and the pub will be rocking early in the day. hang out for their St. Paddy's block party and then come out to Blackbaud for the tailgate at 3pm. Hoep your liver is well adjusted!

    Hey Mikey,

Will the t-shirts be available anywhere but the tent in the parking lot? In the club store inside the stadium?

we'll be selling them at the games under the west stands at the Regiment table. We dont man the table during the games so check before the game or at half time. If you wonder up to section E10 during the match, I could probably hook you up to.

Sounds good. There are a number of families w/ kids coming down (edit: from Columbia) for the matches on Saturday. And I'll be returning on Wed with four other guys for a "dads only" trip. We're looking forward to the tournament! We'll try and hook up with the bunch in E10.

Would love to make it by, but not sure we'll have time. On Sat, my boys will be playing matches in Columbia....last game is over at 3pm, after which we'll be attempting to break the land/speed record without interference from any of SCs finest....;)

On Wed, we're trying to coordinate five guys getting off of work and out of town by 3pm, so that we can make it as close to kickoff as possible. Will you guys be doing the tailgating thing on Wed? If so, I might could talk them into leaving a bit earlier, but not sure....pretty tough to coordinate five different peoples' schedules....

Wed is going to be more of a BYOB thing just due to the fact that work kind of gets in the way. the Toronto and DC folks have both said they will man the grills and we'll do what we can, with what we have.
