I agree with Zak. He does look like the future at GK for Germany and the future is very bright.

As young as Luis is, he is still the eldest of the 3 GKs for 1.FCK. If he continues to play at his current level I don't see him becoming the long term backup for Sippel. He will have to move elsewhere, probably next summer either on loan or permanent.

Apparently getting 5 clean sheets in 9 deployments get you articles in the local press where you talk about your father in Iraq, politics, and Christmas:

Beginning January 5, Kaiserslautern and Luis Robles participate in the annual Harder 13 Cup in Mannheim. Last year Kaiserslautern was dumped early and are in a difficult group again this year.

This tournament is being broadcast on DSF so there may be a feed.

Thanks Zak! Sweet that the two saves that I saw live and made me stand up and take a big notice of Luis were included. The save in the 1860 match were he seemingly leaped out of nowhere to deny a certain goal showed his incredible vertical and reflexes. The other was the kick save against Wehen were he waited a half second, stood his ground, and then came a few feet forward to make a helluva kick save. Most keepers would of come charging out giving the player an open goal. it's been fun to watch Luis thus far and I hope he can retain his spot when Sipple comes back. It's seems unlikely given Sipple's enormous talent but one can hope he does or he has played well enough to catch someone's eye for next season.

Luis Robles was named second best keeper of the Harder 13 Cup, mainly behind his cleansheet against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Cleansheet for Robles in the "Love Cyprus Cup". He had a number of acrobatic saves, but was not tested to much.

    St. Pauli on Monday.

Sippel in goal against St Pauli. It should be interesting on how he does coming back from his broken arm.

In an article today, Sasic, the coach, talks about how well Robles did and how competition between the two is good.

I just don't see these two both being with Kaiserslautern next season, especially if they aren't in 1.BL. They will probably have the opportunity to make some money off one in the summer, and since the 3rd GK Trapp is talented and young as well, they will have options.

For the first 75 minutes I am not sure Sippel even touched the ball short of goalkicks. While he did make two good saves, after the 75th minute is when the wheels came off. St Pauli scored twice, once on a big defensive mistake by Sippel, and there was one goal called back from an offsides inside the 6 yard box. Not sure what this means for Sippel, or Robles for that matter.

2-1 win for Kaiserslautern over Cottbus (Bundesliga) in the final of the Love Cyprus Cup. Robles played very well making a number of acrobatic saves both in and out of the goal.

I am going to predict that Robles will be in the goal for the Mainz game on February 2. Robles has really stepped it up and Sippel is really rusty. How long it stays that way is the million dollar question.

    Maybe literally.

Were Kaiserslautern to sell one of their GKs this summer, who would command more on the player maket, Luis or Sippel? And how much might they be worth?

As usual Zak thanks for the updates. It would be pretty sweet if Luis wrapped up that #1 spot when the league resumes even if it is for a few games in order for Sipple to knock off his rust. It does several things: builds more confidence for Luis, makes it harder for FCK to make a decision, and shows his skills to potential suitors. Like I've reiterated in the past FCK has a good thing going with two strong, worth, and young GKs. Luis has taken his opportunities and ran so I hope his running continues when the season resumes.
