Starting around the first of the year we will be posting information regarding Tifo Gatherings.

This will include flag building, beer drinking, banner making, beer drinking, 2-pole building, beer drinking, etc...

We will post dates and locations at a later date.

Please keep in mind that we keep our ideas and designs pretty quiet until they are displayed.

There will be threads over on www.weareecs.com that will have more information.

    LET'S DO THIS!

    1. I'm making my own 8 foot by 12 foot half blue half green flag with "Sounders til' I die" on the front, hopefully it doesn't look like anything you're making.

    2. What are Qwest restrictions? Can I bring a pole?

I'm sitting on the higest row of one of the sideline sections. I'm just gonna make a huge banner and hang it up. Would this restrict the handicap viewing?

Use 100% polyester for the flag.

They are going to store our poles in the stadium so there are no security problems.

    what you will need is:

    1) 100% poliester (china silk) from Display and Costume (local chain) check their website for locations)

    2) Someone adept at sewing

    3) Poliester-compatible paint that is water resistant

    4) telescoping pole from jackite.com

    And you are set.

When making flags it is best to make a sleeve in the fabric itself and then to reinforce the tip of the pocket with a piece of canvas.

In addition, when making flags, to make them more waveable in tight quarters (sounders games...we hope) keep the aspect ratio low. The larger the flag to smaller the aspect ratio.

ECS is working on doing 15-20 flags that are about 12'x14' and maybe a couple mega ones that are like 25'x30'.

Thanks for the heads up fuzzy.

    A couple questions though...

    Why not cotton?

12 by 14 eh? Thats a very squarish flag... not a fan of
    rectangles?

Maybe I should make mine the same dimensions, considering I'll be in the thick of the ECS.

cotton is HEAVY and absorbs water.

    this poliester is very light.

the low aspect ratio in a flag makes it easier to wave. If you have a very rectangular flag...you will be "dragging the tail of the flag" all over the place.

Oh yes, beer will be consumed.:D

Cool, now we have access to 2 overheads.

I want to look into a digital projector in the near future.
Printing out transparencies can be a pain.

having access to more than 1 projector will be helpful. especially as spread out as we all are geographically.

one thing we do need is access to a large site (gymnasium, warehouse, something along those lines) for painting large banners and such. Anyone has leads, let us know!

We should ask Drew Carey. I feel like Qwest would have enough accommodating space.

i am working on getting the qwest parking garage for a couple of evenings.

This is not going to happen before the new year though.

But have your plans ready by then and we can all meet in one place, socialize a bit, and inhale some paint.
