Are you guys kidding me? No good website has some BS (pun intended...) ads that go across the face of your screen every time you log in. Disgraceful, try looking at a bigger message board.

At least I'm not the only one bothered by these ads.

First they've been reported. You can report nicely. We have a long standing policy of cracking down on these when they appear.

I will speak with our reps.

Mrs. Ismitje joined BigSoccer this week so I have seen these in action. They flip and flop all over the place.

Huss, I believe that few of us know how ads are contratced, which would explain harsh reactions. Our impression is probably from newspaper days where an individual advertiser built its ad more or less in conjunction with the rep from the paper, and so we imagine you folks agreeing to individual ads. Might be handy to sticky anexplanation of how ads get, well, added to the site and what to do if questionable ones start showing up.

    Cheers!

Can you explain what flip and flop means?

There are hunreds of threads in this forum with complaints about ads. Every single one is responded to with us telling you that we don't support pop up or pop under, and only expansion or noise upon user initiation. We also have always removed violaters.

Well then Circuit City is violating your rules. Their advertisements are the expansion type when the page is opened, does not require a roll over or a click. On many, there is no x Close option. They have various images that move all over the screen - dropping books, wii controlers that move about, remote controls that dance, etc...

They are a tad bit bothersome...just as I'm about to click on this page I can't because an ad didn't let me. :(

These ads are horrible. Almost every single page I go on on this site has them too. I might take an extended break for bigsoccer if this continues as it's ruining my BS experience!

Why is BigSoccer advertising stupid in the first place?

Isn't there already too much stupid around here?

    ;)

    Exactly.

It freezes up my computer almost every time, when I attempt to click on a forum link, which is actually a new (invisible to the eye) CircuitShitty window.

Fix it, or give me my money back. This is ********ing retarded.

Guys, I'm with Huss on this - I have yet to see one. I am curious to see this crap, and have been looking, but I guess Circut City is afraid of me...

If you are platinum you shouldn't see any ads. If you aren't, we are trying to fix it, but I'm sure you see ads on other web sites. They pay for the monkeys that keep the servers moving.

They do, but their ads do not pop down if you aren't mousing anywhere near it - or otherwise intrude a la the Intertubes circa 2001.

Well, isn't that a bit disingenuous?
As a mod, aren't you automatically freed from this crap?

Fair enough; given the membership name changes over the years, I have no idea what my status is anymore. I just know that I hand over the dough every year.

Anyway, as Riz alluded to, I'm certainly willing to admit that I moused-over on the ad a few times, and unknowingly clicked on it when it invaded the screen. And I'm willing to take responsibility for that

But I think it's a horseshit practice to have a scroll-over ad that has NO BACKGROUND color, so you accidentally click on it even if you're just trying to click on a BigSoccer link.
And that's a beef I have with Circuit City, not you folks.
I just want it to go away.

And please, Huss: I know ads are what drive the servers. ;)
    But this is obnoxious.

EDIT: I just checked. Apparently, I'm Premie Gold, so I'm subject to this.
As part of the TOS, that's fair; I entered into it.
    But these ads suck donkey.

    Nope.

Oof - I was trying to allude to the fact that the damn things pop down and pop out when you don't mouse over the ad. My bad ross.

    OK. Thanks.
Sorry, 'nutter; I wasn't jabbing at you personally.

Not at all. That's just more useful info. :) Thanks.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but this is just insanely obnoxious, and now the proximate cause of my vow to never spend another dime at Circuit City.
I'm sure their Marketing types don't care about my opinion, but there we are.
