I think blackberries are cursed.. my friend finally got her new phone (blackberry) after about 4 months of waiting to go get one, she took it to our state championship baseball game in Raleigh.. left it on a bench. Catch is, it got returned to lost and found, but somebody stole it from there.. she called it a few times, and some guy picked up saying if she came and met him and gave him a 'reward,' she'd get it back.

Dude...not cool. I don't know what I'd do if I lost my BlackBizzle now. I feel for you :(

That reminds me of an episode of "Peep Show" where someone gets mugged for his BlackBerry, and he ends up paying some chavs money to get it back. Obviously that situation was funnier than your friends.

Again, reiterating that my friends now know I care about my BlackBerry more than them :p

Hmmm, so mebe stealing fones is a good way to meet chicks....
Actually found a beeper back in the days when people had pagers, like a decade ago, and it had this long-ass number scrawled into the back which I rang and left a msg. This foreign dude turns up all thankful and he's asking me to go for a drink with him as a thank you....errr, I'm ok thanks son!

Anyways, woah apps u got a sidekick? Hardly girly nows is it? My best mate seems more fussed about my tech than me (I still NEVER bought a fone and all my handsets are freebies from mates) BUT the sidekick is the first one I ever seriously thought about getting, this is like 6 months back and he talked me out of it coz of how outdated all the technology on it is, but admitted that steezistically that is pretty much the most fitting fone for Case and my persona!

He also talked me out of a blackberry on the same argument, but almost speaks like he on comission for ifone- which I simply HATE for many reasons but cant justify paying cash for a handset that wouldn't do things the ifone does, catch 22 much!

Meh sooner or later someone will give me a blackberry if I'm lucky!

So I've so scored twice since getting my Adipures last week. Coincidence? Or could it be because I'm playing striker now instead of keeper? Hmmm...:D

    The UK slide has :

    - Yahoo Messenger
    - AIM

And apparently t-mobile UK has been promising MSN for sometime now but we've not got it yet.

What messengers are on the blackberry?

    Case’s Fitness Philosophy

    (don't care? don't read!)

Many a time have I contemplated, discussed and even illustrated my own thoughts and ideas pertaining to the health and fitness industry, and more specifically, individuals exercise regimes. I've spent a fair amount of my adult life training with various sports clubs, and even more of my time working out in various different Gymnasiums around the city, and on the odd occasion, the country. At times my focus has been so intense that I’ve contemplated a career in the area, mostly reverting to my undergraduate area of Sporting Motivation however several times I have given serious mind to pursuing an active role in the leisure and fitness industry.
Recurrently I’ve chosen against it, for many reasons perhaps to be touched upon later, but the one thing I have always maintained is a close consideration to my own training, as well as observations of those around me. Making many friends with gym staff and fellow exercisers, as well as conversing with my existing friends about their health and fitness experiences, I have often been shocked and appalled by the frustrations of others, the industry perpetuated by these dissatisfactory results and the idealisms of perfection.
The reasonings behind an individuals fitness endeavours are as varied as they are intricate, and in truth no-one person in guided by one single strand of motive alone. However many people have a main focus for their exercise, results against which will serve to justify their efforts in the most part. What I have continually observed is that these motives are often incongruent with the health and fitness undertakings of the relevant individual, and it is the lack of informed-planning that leads me to posit my below model for improved exercising-efficacy.
Case’s model of exercise-efficacy is based upon the clichéd yet valid principle of “knowledge is power”. Now I’m not suggesting that one must gain a degree in exercise physiology and nutrition in order to lose a few pounds and tone up, but my point here is that exercise is a hugely generalised term for many separate and often only spuriously related pursuits, many of which are non-complementary and even counter-productive to specific fitness goals. Now I would never discourage any type of exercise, and more is always better, it’s just that so many people “over-train” which to me is a misnomer for naively exercising without due diligence to planning.
So here’s the model, pretty darned simplistic but the format may require some explanation:

...................2) Learn HOW to get there.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
    3)Believe in the Gap
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
    ..................1) Know your goals (WHERE/WHY)

This model, for arguments sake, would benefit from an arrow going from 1through 3 to 2, but MS Word won’t allow such and I am not feeling the need to do some sketchy c&p from MS Paint, so you’ll just have to conceptualise this yourselves. The reasoning to have the order disjointed in the model (which is still to be read 1,2,3) is to illustrate that the Where and the Why of your motivation is the foundation, a base from which to strive for the “there”. 2 could be extended to read: “...and get there”, but to me this is superfluous and redundant. In order to break the individual elements down I will expand upon them with examples from my own experiences to illustrate the importance and inter-related nature of each point of the model.

    1: “Know your Goals”

This may initially sound intuitive, but time-and-again this has been disproven by interactions I have had with individuals. As mentioned most people train/exercise/diet for a myriad of reasons, but at the risk of reductionism MOST will have one over-arcing desire (those that don’t will GENERALLY be happy with GENERAL improvements which can easily be achieved GENERICALLY with the simplistic concept of “more exercise less food”). Underpinning any other goals, motives tend to come from insecure vanity, so people want to be that which they are not and feel others value. I’m not here to address the moral validity of such, but what I am commenting on is the desire be thinner/have more muscle/be fitter or stronger than others, the identification of this is as crucial to effective exercise as it is humbling to admit. This is where Personal Trainers (PT’s) live or die, as a personable nature conducive to client-candour will presumably be as utilitous in producing results as their knowledge or “expertise”. But I am not convinced about the need for PT’s, which to me often function simply as a crutch for those lacking conviction, and have always advocated oneself as the most knowledgeable and invested coach you’ll ever find. Eitherway, what is important is that the individual at least is able to identify and admit what their health and fitness goals are, because any route planning intrinsically needs a destination, in order to be satisfied with your fitness you MUST figure out where you want to get to and why.

2: “Learn how to get there”

Inextricable from the “where” and the “why” is innately the “HOW”, and to me this is the aspect that people are all-too often getting wrong, primarily through a lack of understanding to the elements of point 1. You can watch a bunch of guys breaking eggs into a pan and copy that to perfection, and at the end of the day you’ll have food, but if it’s scrambled eggs you wanted, or hard-boiled, or an omelette, then following the wrong examples gets you to the wrong place quick.
“Exercising”, “Working out” and “Training” encompass a huge variety of paradigms when it comes to health and fitness, providing confusion due to the multitude of superficial similarities between them. There are proximal generalities that apply across the board to a point, and to my dismay these are all-too-often advocated by the fitness professional. Now this is not intended to be an FU to PTs, nor an undermining of “fitness instructors”, but in my decade of gym-ratting I am yet to meet one whom I deem to be a “superior examplar of fitness” than myself (several have had areas of excellence but none have rivalled myself as a total package of knowledge and physical testimony), but conceited narcissistic bias aside, my fundamental issue is I’ve NEVER, not once had a question satisfactorily answered by any one of them. I’ve read a little, listened alot and learned a fair bit for myself in this time, but whenever I’ve had a difficult query about mechanics, logistics, semantics or biology, the “professionals” I’ve encountered have floundered to enlighten me. Neither do I blame them for this nor do I resent it- I’ve a whole treatise on the motivation one has to become such and am fully aware of the pressures simply to “know enough” to stay ahead of the bread and butter (a vicious circle as these clients are hampered by their own lack of informed knowledge, hence this paper).
What I can say is that the “How” is a complicated and unclear puzzle, further confused by the incessant exploitation of lazy ignorance by media publications. Pick up any Mens health or Female Beauty magazine from the past 2 decades and the cover will proclaim the “new” simple way to solve a problem they’d no doubt resolved a few issues prior. The fact of the matter is that these vultures move units by preying on the eager masses with quick-fix solutions to avoid the laborious dedication actually required to achieve such results, which ultimately sets the reader up for a fall as this proves unrealistic, invalid, unreliable or simply more effort than they bargained for!
So then, how to find out how? Well, for starters I’d hope you needn’t read research paper after fitness article after text book- indeed I’d be perturbed if you needed to read more than you have already to get this far (in what is apologetically becoming a drawn out article now!). I’m not going to tackle individual “How” pathways here, but give you a general rule of thumb: once you’ve ascertained point 1, work intuitively backwards from where you want to be. It’s also good to remember the specificity of exercise, put simply that an activity tends to make you better at doing that activity, and doesn’t miraculously achieve other things. This is an exaggeration, but it is safe to say that if you are running for a few minutes then lifting weights you won’t achieve the flat stomach you desire. Want toned arms? Work your arms. It’s all pretty sensical.
An understanding of energy systems, exercise principles and nutrional intake helps, but for me this goes hand in hand with the third and perhaps most crucial point.

    3: “Believe in the Gap”

The “Gap” refers to the identification of where you want to be, and getting there. Crucially, one must BELIEVE that the methods identified are valid and trust that they will work for you. Psychologically, I maintain it isn’t as important to understand in-depth the biochemistry of carb-loading or the physiological demands of negative repetitions, than it is to believe that based on whatever your own level of understanding is, that you believe in the exercise regime to which you’ve thrown your hat on. Too many individuals train on the say so of a PT or a magazine article without really putting stock in the methodology, and quickly become discouraged when inevitable results do not materialise. Training is innately idiosyncratic, and the individual tweeks your own body, lifestyle and mindset require will be made in a far more effective way by someone who not only understands they epistemology but believes in its utility.
Personally, I’ve always held a disproportionate value for exercise over nutrition (as to me there’s irrefutably a baseline-minimum fuel intake your body requires which you cannot undercut, whilst you can ALWAYS do more exercise), and to me it’s always made sense that “whatever does not make you stronger, halts your progress” (counter-productivity of ill-advised exercise). This works for me as I’ve read, digested and formed my own notions, and have structured my fitness regime accordingly. I’m not trying to preach or soapbox my own ideals right now, I’m simply attempting to illustrate the point of BELIEF. I have full assurance that the methods I ascribe to can, will and do allow me to achieve the results I’m after, and subsequently I can boast a long history of continued participation, adherence to my training regime and avoidance of amotivation, stagnation or the frustration that jeopardises the hard-work and efforts of so many around me.

So that’s it, simply. Circumlocuted, but simple nonetheless. Figure out what you want, learn how to achieve it, and trust it will work: What?>>How>>, BELIEVE!
Oh, and drink more water! But that’s for another time ;)

Sorry should have specified that they also must be sized up enough for my chunky clumsy thumbs! Most of the blackberry joints (the closest handset to ideal readily available over here) seem just a lil too tiny for purpose....

The legendary BlackBizzle comes preinstalled with BlackBerry Messenger, where you have a unique PIN for your phone and you can message other BB users for free which is quite innovative. I have Bookface on my BB as well which is quite cool, you can do all the usual stuff including uploading photos which is quite good. I'm sure you can get MSN etc on it but I haven't got round to doing it, the only application bar FB that I installed was "Dope Wars"!!!! Great game to kill time!!! :D
