It's only six months and he'll be finishing up the 2008 season with one of the better MLS sides.

It can't simply be dismissed as an "ordinario" move even though I agree with you on a futbol elitist standpoint where we always expect more from the MLS.

Going on a more positive approach if he has the ability to succeed anywhere and actually does well with DC United they could extend his services for much longer eventually playing in the Concacaf Champions League which DC has qualified for. A championship win provides a direct route to the FIFA Club World Cup which offers him more exposure, experience and a better paycheck.

By that account MLS needs to start pushing for a Copa Sudamericana berth like they had in 2005, yet maintaining the status quo of Copa Libertadores.

Instead of having to endure the Honduran club team Motagua I'd much rather have South American teams playing against New Eng. Revolution over in Boston or the Red Bulls in NJ for example.

If Carmona was 30+, then yea, I don't mind going to the MLS, but this is a guy that during the qualifying tourney to the U20 WC, was amongst or best 4-5 players. And to be honest, once MLS teams meet Mexican opp. in the CCL, they choke (and this comes from a guy that wants MLS to succeed). I am sure Currimilla can shine vs. the Harbour Views, and RC Violettes of the World. I just thought he could get further along at this age than that ("that" meaning MLS).

It's important to note that a lot of his former teammates from Sub-20 are finding themselves signing with foreign clubs such as Medina, Isla, Suarez, Alexis Sanchez, Carmona, Vidal and Vidangossy.

While others such as Gary Medel, Hans Martinez, and Toselli always have that advantage by playing for a bigger club and being called up for the national team either in qualifiers or as features in the Toulon tournament.

For Currimilla it's either stay with Huachipato which has lately been a mid-level team for the next 6 months and try to get into the Libertadores or take a chance by playing in the United States with DC United who have a Champions League and a SuperLiga tournament coming up that are both being broadcasted across the US, Canada and Mexico.

Anybody know about the status of Jaime Grondona? He showed great promise in Canada but was hurt bad following the incident that resulted in a lengthy suspension by FIFA.

I read he was currently playing in the Chilean third divison for Unión Quilpué when he was a player for Santiago Wanderers. Was his contract not extended or has he had a drop in form?

Hope Goldona gets back into the game soon, he's got a lot of passion. Questioning how much Wanderers were offering him in the first place it would be shameful if they didn't meet what their foreign youth players are getting paid.

He said that whatever they offered him was pretty much a joke.
This was before the private consortium that took over the team sorted out all the finances (then again, he had only scored 2 goals for the 1st team; U20 Goldona >>>>> SW Goldona).
