Why? $$$$$$$$$$ There's no way owners would go through with a league without it had the league started then. (When I said first division I meant Premiership or the top English league.)
Now that Lerner has bought Villa it is going to be $$$$$$$$ eventually What's the symbol for roubles? Not enough room in this box for Romans lucre.
I haven't watched a single game, but the Gals are in first, so I'm back on the bandwagon. At this point I can't even remember what kind of deal Chelsea struck with LA. Oh well, who cares...... I want silverware.
I keep trying but I still can't find a MLS side to follow, let alone support. I have trouble following any LA team, but for the sake of plasticity I'll give it my best try. Becks r best!!!!!!!!!!!111111
Isn't that what they say everyweek? I'm quickly losing love with Chivas and am thinking of jumping onto the Galaxy bandwagon too. Although, seeing as it's just Beckham and Donovan that have been scoring...okay, Buddle has shown up in the past two games...It's not exactly right to call it a team. Gullit has the total footbal lthing down pat though, winning by the odd goal on 7/9 most weeks
Let's see I have three MLS teams, all of them within four hours driving distance. So.... Chicago: Out. It's not in me as a Detroiter to root for anything Chicago. Nice city and all but by Detroit law I have to hate the Blackhawks and Bulls so out. Columbus: Nope. Cannot stand Ohio or Ohio State. Toronto: Will follow them like a good little plastic. I'd go to more games but crossing borders is a hassle, especially when I'm trying to get back into the states. That, and I have CBC (Canada channel) and they show the majority of TFC games. The day Detroit gets a team, I'm out of there faster than you can call me a glory hunter.
Actually, you being in WNY, are you perchance slightly closer to Columbus than Urbanblight Twp., NJ? Of course I should talk. I'm pretty close to Columbus, too, but noooooo. I gotta be me and be a Rapids fan. But hey. They don't suck. Or maybe the conference does. I duno. This parity thing is giving me a stroke. But hey. No plastic here.
Me, WNY? Well, I suppose it is these days, what with all the people from the city moving out this way. Closer to Columbus.. I'm two hours directly North of Philly. Parity is bad this year, anybody can win. Being that I was born and raised many thousands of miles from here, it doesn't matter who I root for, I'm still 100% plastic. Of course, when Philly starts it's own team next year, at least I'll live locally. Well, locally being relative of course. Two/three/four hours away from the stadium back home and you're not local anymore, just another Manchester United fan...
Whoops. Just put me in your ignore box. I post before I think. "Blah blah blah". That's my motto. There was someone else with Buffalo, NY in their info. Carry on. Nothing to see here.
Pfft my Sounders will own that overrated retard Beckham and his 'buddy' Lando and we'll take the league by storm. Go Sounders!
I'm closer to Toronto and Columbus than NY. I hate all NYC teams. I'm just waiting for the Rhinos to get to MLS and they'll be my team. Until then, I'll be a general fan and pull for Chicago (Cubs fan) and LA because they are entertaining.
I'm somewhere between Plastic, and a supporter. Which makes me a "fan" I suppose, of the Los Angeles Cosmos. Shit...sorry, the Galaxy. Whew. I have been following them since they came into existence. Not much television coverage back then, so I would just check the standings in our local newspaper. Yay Galaxy! I'll be drunk at the Gals vs. Chivas game this summer...right Dave? Eddie? Hells yes.
Anyone know what city Clan lives in? He can't be too far from me. I go to school in Olean, if he has any idea about NYS geography... unless he lives in PA and I'm totally off
In the words of the theme song of Team America: F**K YEAH!! I've been watching more Galaxy lately and am enjoying it. I tried the whole Chivas thing but it's hard to root for a team with a negligible fan base and no real identity of their own - cheap tickets were an advantage though. Last I heard they were including pairs of them in special boxes of Wheaties with Jesse Marsch on the front
I goofed up in my post. I thought he was the one from WNY. You are. He is "two hours north of Philly", which I think puts him in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. But he can address that.
Never been up yonder. I almost went to Scranton for that "Scranton Party" they had for The Office, but only knew about it two days in advance, so had no clue what to expect. Lotta Galaxy fans up there?
Hard to say really, you'd have to be in high school to judge that. The youth system around here is decent, even if the overwhelming majority of coaches don't have a scooby. As for adults, apart from the 'soccer mom', there are very few football fans at all. I've met a few people that have commented on my Chelsea scarf in winter, or t-shirt in Summer, but they couldn't hold a conversation of any length. This area is typical of 'small town' America. Football (American) is the main thing, basketball is a close second. Baseball is big until little league is no longer possible, then dies off.
