Chivas USA has entered a multi-year broadcast agreement with KAZA Azteca 54, the Los Angeles affiliate of Mexican-owned Azteca América network. KAZA will broadcast ten Chivas USA games live during the 2008 MLS season, while also airing the popular weekly show ‘Somos Chivas USA’ on Saturdays.

    Good news indeed!

    Great exposure.

But... can they do something about the reception?

I remember the "Somos Chivas USA" show from the early years.
The reporters actually planned out some good stories and had access to the team. Quality stuff. Not like that Samuel Jacobo, low budget tish that we've had to ignore the last couple of years.

Go digital if you're having reception problems...Yeah, that show with Jacobo was horrible. Embarrassing really.

They are going to keep showing those games they show on Azteca America on FSN right? Or is there going to be the SAP option for the English viewers?

Digital? do you mean on-line? I have HD programing but the images are horrible since their signal is not digital. Please tell me more! I am gonna give DirecTV a call. All in all this is a good announcement.

Now from what I understand, all of the KAZA games will be games not previously scheduled for TV in the LA area. There should be conflict with the already programmed games with Telefutura, or FOX sports.

Gosh, its great to see so much choices on TV for MLS. It seems that they are really making some progress and getting some positive exposure.

Good stuff, TV Azteca actually airs Chivas USA matches on next day delay in Mexico as well.

No doubt, I am serious. I watched the match against Houston while I was in Mazatlan. The broadcast was clearly geared toward Chivas USA.

saw their "chivas usa" show on saturday. in a nutshell, the show has the hosts just saying cliche after cliche about the team. nothing substantial.

not too informative for the big fan, but good effort.

    GLYCO,
YOU HAVE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE, BUT FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER, YOU FAILED TO ELABORATE AND THAT MAKES ME WONDER. IS THE LANGUAGE A PROBLEM?

WHY DO YOU THINK THE SHOW WAS HORRIBLE OR EMBARRASSING?

It was the horrible content. Example: Kortney skateboarding, Jacobo flirting with some lady for 5 minutes, the short features on players, and the bad questions asked to players.

More time was spent with the Chiva girls and other non-sense than on the actual Chivas players and organization. To me, that's embarrassing to watch.

THE SKATEBOARDING, I AGREE. BUT I MUST SAY THAT CHIVAS USA IS NOT JUST 11 PLAYERS ON THE PITCH. HOW ABOUT THE FO, CHIVA GIRLS, FANS, SUPPORT GROUPS ETC.?
I SAY THE PROGRAM SHOULD LAST ONE HOUR INSTEAD OF 30 MINUTES.

Whats wrong with featuring the Chivagirls? I'd rather watch Kortney on a skateboard than watch the leagues continued ass-kissing of David Beckham.

Personally, I will only begin watching the show if English subtitles are included. We need these shows to market EVERY Chivas USA fan!

Why do people complain about the Beckham ass-kissing? Really, he's brought tons of notoreity to the league. He sells out stadiums all over the world. And, beyond that, he's one of the better players in the league. I cheer against him when it suits my purposes as a Chivas fan, but all he's brought to the league has been positive. Same goes for Cuahsimoto. They're great players and great for the league. They sell tickets.

And about featuring the Chiva girls...who gives a @&^$ about the Chiva girls? Feature the players! Feature the coaches! Talk about the matches! Talk about the league. Talk about potential players, our youth teams, etc. There is plenty to talk about other than the Chiva girls.

As much as i think the Chivasgirls are great, i don't care so much about them and would care less if they were on the show. I would rather hear more information about the organization, players, youth system, ect... then pointless, perverted garbage.

I'd be all for more stuff on the FO (preferably with a critical eye) but I don't need an hour of fluff pieces (no pun intended) on the Chiva girls or fans. Seriously, the Chiva girls? That's just pathetic "programming" which wouldn't be taken seriously by anyone with half a brain.

This league is desperately in need of quality analysis in its media exposure and what little coverage we do get shouldn't be spent on the effing cheerleaders.

agreed..Although the chivas girls are nice to look at and i did purchase their calender at the meet and greet (which i must say is outstnding) i need the inside look into the team snd yes i agree with our brother who says the show should be in English. I speak English and Spanish but each segment that is in Spanish should have English subtitles and English segments should have Spanish subtitles. I think that would reach more of our fans. The lakers have a show in spanish and english why can't we. Some of you computer nerds shoudl be able to help (and probably get paid for it to)with the show to show them how to do that with your Mac's right? FO are you lsitening?Either way i'll watch the show.

Sadly, I do. She's with the San Diego Chargers now.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see solid analysis and a profile of the ENTIRE product known as Chivas USA. This team is unique in its desire to be the first MLS club that resembles a European model that develops their own Professionals. If your talent is homegrown the local support will follow! They can start killing the myths related to the 2005 version of Chivas USA as well. Hell, can a few Ultras get a plug?:D

Not to fight, but I think Chivas USA is resembling the Chivas GDL model of developing its own professionals, not the Euros.

I was checking to see if KAZA has a website and couldn't find one. I was hoping there was a way to view the matches online. We have an Azteca station over here in Tucson but they won't be showing the Goats I'm sure.

The system is being developed by Technical Director Dennis te Kloese. He was brought to Chivas GDL from AJAX AMSTERDAM. Now he is here at Chivas USA to create a developmental system. Read the bio below from the Chivas USA website.

Dennis te Kloese, Director of Football

As Chivas USA's Director of Football, Dennis Johannes te Kloese is responsible for the club's player development and football education initiatives.
Born on August 27, 1974 in Bussum, the Netherlands, te Kloese began his soccer playing career as a defender, before hanging up his boots in 1999 following a series of knee injuries. As a player, he was a member of several Dutch youth national teams and also played in the youth ranks of AFC Ajax Amsterdam and SV Huizen.

From 2003 to 2004, te Kloese ran the scouting department of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, which consists of five full-time trainers directly related to the club's youth ranks and its Primera 'A' (second tier) and First Division teams.

Te Kloese also served as an advisor to Hans Westerhof, during the latter's stint as Chivas Guadalajara's Head Coach in 2004, with the responsibility of analyzing opposing teams and players.

Previously, during the years 2001 and 2003, te Kloese was an executive in the Dutch firm Proactive Sports Management, headquartered in Amsterdam, which was responsible for advising various European first division clubs on technical aspects of player transfers and other administrative matters.

From 1994 to 1999 he studied Law at the University of Amsterdam, to later apply his knowledge of tax law with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, which oversaw tax payment by professional teams belonging to the Royal Dutch Football Federation.

Te Kloese was also part of an International Program that led Ajax to form a partnership with Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. for international exchanges of players, coaching staff and soccer expertise.

Te Kloese is married to Monserrat Fernández, and the couple currently resides in San Pedro, California.

Sadly, while the deal is a positive for CUSA, TV Azteca has a horrible product on TV let alone a website. I almost cried while watching the Mexican league final's first leg yesterday at how poor the quality of the broadcast was.

For a TV station that has made itself famous based off of constant criticisms of every step Televisa takes, you would think they would at least invest in upgrading their equipment.
