Here is Gabriel's cartoon after the first leg. I'm still waiting to see what he comes up with for last nights match.
Salvador Cabanas es puro crack ... That cat always plays with balls, ever since he wore the America jersey he wore it with pride. Now you see why he is the captain. Had a slow start with America , but he has taken off tremendously
S. Cabanas is world-class but I wouldnt call him the best heres my top 5 1.H. Suazo 2.M. Palermo 3.S. Cabanas 4.Falcao 5.Matias Vuoso notable mentions-Adriano(he has been going downhill though),B.Marioni-hes seems to be on fire right now
I dont see all the buzz about Palacio hes reminds me of O. Bravo hes quick but I dont think hes amazing, but I still think Palermo is better he is one of the best in the Americas in Headers, good passer and a wonderful strike.
Palacio misses a lot of chances, but with Palermo's getting older, he misses them as well. They both pretty much score the same amount of goals now but Palacio creates a lot more chances especially with his speed. Either way, I'm glad we have both of them and hopefully Palacio won't leave this summer to go to Europe
Palermo is still one of the best in the world when heading the ball but as bostero said Palacio is currently better. Palacio is hit or miss when it comes to finishing but in everything else he's very good. You can always count on him to wreak havoc and create danger and he's very difficult to defend against. His goal scoring record for Boca in international matches is excellent as well. I think it's 21 goals in 38 matches a lot of them very important ones.
Yeah that's the one i made reference to, i remembered about it but i thought it was in 2005, that's why i couldn't find the details. If i recall correctly after the Gimnasia-Colo Colo incidents the media took note of this event but now, no one even mentioned it. Anyway, interesting no one said anything like "Flamengo lost because the altitude" or anything of the sort. River-San Lorenzo i think it should be a scoreless, yet ferocious battle. And now seeing what happened in some matches of the 2nd leg like i don't know what to expect from Cúcuta-Santos.
I agree with that list...it's funny how both Suazo and Cabañas look chubby and slow, but they are both extremely dangerous and fast strikers. Maybe their look has prejudiced European scouts. Suazo and Cabañas may not be so fast physically but they make that up with their acceleration, mental speed and positioning. I think Cabañas is more consistent than Suazo, if Suazo could score a bit more regularly he would be a monster. Suazo's goals are more classy though. I think that's one of the reasons why he is not as consistent as Cabañas...Suazo sometimes tries to do a bit more than necessary, an extra bicycle, dribble or sometimes just because he looks for the spectacular angle...but he's still the top scorer in the Mexican league and has shut up all that ignorant Mexican press that called him fat.
I never really heard the press talk about his weight, i think they were used to it with Cabañas. It was just probably 1 reporter that said Suazo was fat, but ignorant Chileans now think that the whole mexican press talked about his weight.
Great atmosphere in the River vs San Lorenzo game heres the link http://www.rojadirecta.com/canal/anfoc-justintv-1.htm
Yellow carding Orión after the brawl saved the day. But yes the flow of the game will force the referee to show at least one red card on this game. Of course that didn't stop Ramón Diaz from complaining about Maidana. And if the referees hired Niembro and Closs as their lawyers, well guess the guys are ********ing dead. By the way, Falcao on his way out on the half-time just confirmed that he didn't make contact with the ball so the goal was scored by Abelairas, not Falcao. Also San Lorenzo is winning the shirt pulling match by a goleada.
Amazing. San Lorenzo was losing 2-0 and is down to 9 men, and suddenly it's 2-2 and River needs two more goals to advance.
Epic! What a match, and it was the kind of battle i thought it could be, a very tense and fierce one. It's gonna be remembered for many years to come. Also amazing the job of Alexis "best of the world" Sanchez, he got a yellow card for diving in few seconds.
OK, a few things. I saw the entire 2nd half of Rio da Prata vs. Sao Lourenco. Credit to Sao Lourenco for fighting back after being down to 9 men. They scored two quick goals by applying pressure and simply by spilling their guts out on the pitch. Now, what happened to Rio da Prata? This is supposedly a strong team with very good players. And, I just read in the Rio da Prata forum on the Argentina forum that there was a wrongfully disallowed goal scored by Abreu and 2 penalty kicks that Rio da Prata deserved which the referee did not call. Is this true? How odd. THey were the ones who were down a man and came back vs. Botafogo last year. And after Flamengo suffers an embarrassing debacle last night, tonight Rio da Prata is eliminated in embarrassing fashion on its home ground. Some of those Rio da PRata fans that Fox Sports en Espanol showed looked livid - they were gesturing and gesticulating with their arms and hands to show their indignation at their own players. Must be the Italian blood many Argentines have. Damn. It was an exciting soccer game to watch, but I wouldn't want to be a Rio da Prata fan right now.
I just turned the TV back on. "Clavados... sin reaccion" It's an appropriate way to describe it. There are still Rio da Prata fans on the stands, totally stunned... and the Sao Lourenco fans are still dancing. The camera just showed this chick trash-talking from the Sao Lourenco side. I wonder what she said.
Before anything, I must clarify that it's incredible that the players let the match go being up 2-0 with 2 players more than San Lorenzo. I also blame this partially on Aguilar, who didn't grab D'Alessandro when he had a chance and it came back to bite him in the ass. But before getting on CASLA's dick (like the commentators), we should also remember the poor reffing. Let's do a quick re-cap: 1st leg (2-1 in favor of San Lorenzo): - Controversial penalty in favor of the home side which gave them the victory. 2nd leg (2-2): - Goal by Abreu that was disallowed. Replays show that he was not offsides. - Clear penalty for River when the match was up 1-0, yet the ref fails to call it. - Silvera should have been expelled for hitting Tuzzio. Not long after, the same player plays the key role in San Lorenzo's first goal of the night. Like I said, I can't believe our players let this game slip. But, honestly, there were too many clear ref errors in favor of San Lorenzo. Had they not existed, River probably would have qualified with ease (we would have had 2 goals extra, and San Lorenzo 2 less).
jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja otra vez mostraste porque sos una gallina jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaa and enough complaining about the ref. It's your own fault you lost a 2-0 lead with a 2 men advantage. pathetic IMHO
After what happened last night and tonight, and what happened in the group phase with Boca, I am smelling a Boca Juniors championship...
