As I understand it, he is quitting to show solidarity with the players because they are having serious problems with management. But I wonder if there isn't an ulterior motive.

It's too bad, he was doing a good job with that team.

But last night was a disgrace. 11 vs 10 the whole match and they were bunkering. But part of it was that Boca just ran them over.

Ecuador clubs in general seem to be strong this season. Although Cuenca is probably screwed after losing in Uruguay.

Yeah, without the sending-off, Boca probably win by at least 3 goals. The officiating was embarrassing though. Even a bogus offside was called against Colo Colo which would have been a sure goal, that nobody is talking about. They couldn't get anything right. :p:rolleyes:

ya the bad offside call was made up by letting colo colo score when they were offside. Amarilla is such a bad ref

He was pretty solid when he reffed Flamengo x Nacional other than two bad offsides calls that killed goal scoring opportunities for Fla.

Yeah, Borghi blew it with the changes the starting team was ok and could build up some decent counters, the players he put in the second half however were rubbish. They were not as good technically but they couldn't even defend properly so Colo-Colo should have left the starter team.

The main difference was that Colo-Colo has no star players to turn around matches, they don't have a decent bench either...which is rubbish because Colo-Colo made more than enough cash by selling Mati, Suazo, Vidal and Valdivia to buy quality. More than$30 million dollars apparently.

Noooo! Now Potosi win their games, when they've officially been eliminated? San Lorenzo now has a much more clear path to qualifying to the Round of Sixteen. :(

They are finally getting to play their games at home. What San Lorenzo did to beat them at home was quite a feat that many people may have overlooked.

The offside calls I think cannot be blamed on the ref but on the linesmen, but I agree he had a horrible game, and it's not the first time. He gets to ref every week in Libertadores and lately more often than not he sucks.

A draw or a win for River tomorrow would mean automatic qualification to the Round of Sixteen with one match remaining. :)

A loss, meanwhile, still wouldn't be too bad considering how we would still remain in the first place position. Either way, it would obviously be a lot better to get it over with and qualify to the next round as soon as possible.
