Imagine what Chelsea thought when they lost to a "American" team in their preseason a couple of years ago.
Yet, it forecasted a year where Chelsea did not achieve its two top goals: (1) Champions League Final (2) Premiership Title Also, the preseason was the beginning of unrest that boiled over at the start of this season seeing the special one say good bye... I don't quite think RSL is going to fall off the horse, but I thought your post was a tad bit unfair. BTW- wasn't it a Canadian who willed the 'American' team to victory.
Not unfair, simply stating that as usual, we are all in freak-out, doom-n-gloom mode again. Sure its not good to lose to a Division 2 school, although Lynn is one of the best Div2 soccer teams in the country. But hey if you are down on RSL's one loss, I wonder what DC fans are thinking... "United has won one preseason exhibition match so far — a 6-0 victory over the U.S. under-17 team. But it has lost to Chivas USA (1-0), Danish club Odense BK (1-0), the U.S. under-23 team (2-0) and tied the Kansas City Wizards (1-1) and Toronto FC (1-1)." http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080223/SPORTS/120950655/1005/SPORTS
http://sidelineviews.blogspot.com/2008/02/preseason-rankings.html Luis Bueno over at Sideline Views put up his preseason rankings. RSL ranks dead last based on his ratings of every team at every position. RSL hasn't proven anything yet, but I can't see us being that bad.
Here's who he has for the RSL midfield: "11. Real Salt Lake. Javier Morales is promising and will be good to have from the start of the season. Kyle Beckerman is very solid while Nathan Sturgis has good upside, but RSL has seemingly a lot of role players in the midfield." No Cordoba, no Dema as minimum additions. And the defense: "12. Real Salt Lake. Nat Borchers and Ian Joy must hit the ground running for RSL’s defense to have a chance of success. Matias Mantilla will be around for a full season, which is one of the few plusses from this squad." No Olave. The most interesting thing is his definition of a "unit" for the goalkeepers. Chivas ranks number one, because of Guzan, and while I would definitely rank Guzan as number one in MLS, that isn't what the whole unit would be ranked.
Who the hell cares about the opinion of a single blogger who evidently isn't intimately familiar with our club? And isn't it far better to be under rated than over rated? I love that position. Overlook us please. ...Then wander into Rice-Eccles and get shut down by Rimando and prison-shanked by Findley & Yura. Bring it on.
OMG?!?!? Do I sense... optimism??? J/K I love the prison-shank metaphor, but it might apply better to Dema and Joy when they tackle someone...
What a wankfest. Chivas is number 1??? Did anyone tell him the only thing Mexican about the team is the name.
As sidelineviews is seeming to just piss people off you could look at WVHooligan's Blog too for predictions. His seem a bit more researched.

I would would think with all the changes to Goats Lite have made in the off-season, that they would be worse this year. No way they have improved from last year (when they were rather good).

But they line up pretty well at the top (the Goats are in the top spot for both of 'em). Here's a quick look at a combined ranking made up of the two sets: WVH LB AVG 1 Chivas USA 2.4 2.25 2.33 2 Houston 2.8 3.5 3.15 3 New England 3 4.25 3.63 4 DC United 4.4 4.5 4.45 5 Colorado 7.4 5.75 6.58 6 FC Dallas 7 8.75 7.88 6 NY Red Bull 8 7.75 7.88 8 Chicago 9.4 7.5 8.45 9 San Jose 9 10 9.5 10 LA Galaxy 10.2 9.25 9.73 11 Real Salt Lake 9.4 11 10.2 11 Toronto FC 10.4 10 10.2 13 Kansas City 11 9.75 10.38 14 Columbus 10.4 10.75 10.58 (EDIT: yuck, those columns lined up badly, they are supposed to be: combined ranking, team, WVH's average ranking, LB's average ranking, and the combined average ranking)
They are on sale now. https://tkt.xosn.com/tickets/Ticket...ODE_=PERFORMEREVENTS&SALE_TKT_PERFORMER_ID=14
Yep. Just got mine today. Although I should probably have spent that money for a psychiatrist. Pretty sure I'm stuck in an abusive relationship with RSL. I know he beats me, but I love him...
