Actually, I don't really think that its guaranteed to be a mess, might be, but might not. Under the skin, that model shares quite a few parts with the Vauxhall Cavelier/Opel Vectra. A relative had the engine in a Vauxhall Omega with similar kind of milage, and it was actually quite reliable, if thirsty. Another relative had that model of Saab 900 with the 2.0, though, and the suspension and power steering were a nightmare - lots of problems and though the suspension wasn't that pricey, the power steering cost a bomb.
They are by far one of the nicest body styles made, and I hear drive very well. Let's hope the guy selling the car will answer we found a 86 325i for $700 that looks in good shape but needs a manual swap and an LSD to make it a real e30.
haha, ok, so, when you line up at a red light, dry conditions, and you gun it, and my white, 1997 subaru wagon walks away from you, you.. ?
What is the power to weight on those anyhow? Also what is the point of having power if the power train cant effectively put it to the road? You'll need wider tires. Did you know that Subaru Foresters are the official ride of butch lesbians. For my life i cant find the link at the moment, but its true.
it already has an STi swap. Its about as fast as a stage 2 STi, and its all stock at the moment (stock STi engine and exhaust, that is). moreover, i THINK that stis run more than 12psi from the factory, anyway. i think its up around 14.5 or so. you can push 20, easy. as for power to weight, well, it weighs about 2800 or 2900 lbs, so its light. as for putting power to the road, its got a strong wrx transmission (only 5 speed, but geared quicker than the STi 6spd. much, MUCH cheaper to buy, as the STi tranny goes for $6k), and with AWD, i dont need wider tires. theyre 17x7, i want to say, anyway. dont need anymore than that, besides, thats bad for snow traction. basically, with subarus, traction during acceleration isnt an issue until you start pushing about 6 or 7 hundred all wheel horsepower. and yeah, the subaru wagon/lesbian link has been around a while. it makes it funny. right now it does 0-60 in 4 to 4.5 seconds. id say 0-60 on a snow covered road might be 5.5 seconds... shave it down to 5 on gravel. man i love having a car that outperforms cars that cost 5-10x as much.
The Vette does it in 3.5. But I didnt doubt I have used it to anywhere near its potential. I just wanted a Vette, and the regular ones are too common where I live. I wont have it by July though. The dude in the Vette doesnt know what the hell he is doing. Your car also isnt stock. With 5k I can be doing 600+ hp.
I'm thinking of buying a used 1998 Honda Accord 4door. it needs upper and lower ball joints replaced, new front brakes and has a exhaust leak and a little bit of rust around the rear wheel wells. 230 000k, it'll be somwhere around $3600 plus the repairs above. what y'all think? good buy? my buddy has a 2 door of the same year, with 210 000K and he says he's never had problems with his. anyone know how much these repairs would roughly cost?
Karma is a bitch, things have just been going to good lately. I come to my car after a hard day of school today and I see this: Here are some pics i just emailed to my body shop guy.
