I guess I am not familar with how a pro soccer team functions. I read the much anticipated News Release about Jaime being waived. I can understand partially why he was waived. For some reason, RSL decided to keep Besagno and Cutler. Any insider insight on this?

Is JK still expecting for Besagno to be the heir apparant?

I understood that Cutler was cut previously. Can someone verify?

The difference between Jamie and Nik I assume is GA status.

I believe the biggest reason why Besagno is still on the team is his GA status. We aren't paying his salary so it doesn't really affect us. Cutler? Who knows? Maybe they are trying to be an equal opportunity employer so they feel they need a redhead to even things out.

all i care about is that we can move on from this bullshit. all sides of this story had major holes and everyone has looked like complete dumbasses (including the stupid ass fans making up unfounded rumors trying to make kreis and the FO look even worse than they are).

seriously, its time to let this go. good bye jamie, good luck.

Cutler was put on season ending injury list midseason last year but I don't believe he was actually waived or cut. I could be wrong tho...

Sorry, but RSL doesn't need any help looking bad in this case. Trust me. This was a botched operation from the start.

And unfortunately, you haven't heard the end of it yet.

The news release that I got stated that there are only 3 players left on the team for the inaugural season: Besagno, Cutler, and Williams.

I would think that JK could strong arm addidas into graduating Besagno and then waive him. He is a waste of roster and bench spot.

Is this a scoop or a prediction? I wish Jamie the best, and I hope if there is some dirt there that he brings it out in the open, but my guess is that he'll just move on and we won't hear any of the details.

JK strong armed Addidas on Christian and Jamie, what's he waiting on for Besagno..oh wait, that wouldn't look good for RSL to graduate the No 1 draft pick that didn't get any playing time... Besagno isn't a dumb kid.. he knows his days are numbered..wait until the end of upcoming season and Besagno would have wasted 4 years.

The funny thing is that no one seems to care that he's gone. All we see are pile on posts, "hey get rid of this guy too" etc...

Is this just because the writing was on the wall for so long and people are resigned now? I remember Jaime being a fan favorite (not of mine) and I'm surprised there isn't more..umm..backlash isn't the right word but...backlash.

i think people have realized that jamie was a good guy and that is all. he is not talented enough to be a fixture on any team, even as a late sub. he had three seasons at RSL (and opportunities as well with the first team, dont give me that bullshit that he did not get opportunities on the field, he did and did not capitalize). its time for him and RSL to move on.

Hey man, I'm with ya. I was never a fan. To me, those that valued Jaime as a player were confusing hyperactivity with productivity.

My thoughts exactly. It seemed like the biggest pro-Jamie argument was, "He brings a spark to the team late in the game." There's a huge difference between running your tail off and getting results and just running your tail off. I think we saw the same situation with Esky, and look where he is now.

    Exactly!
So, I would assume that Jamie will be starting for Houston this season.:)

The problem for RSL is that during most of his 3 years, the roster's only alternative to hyperactivity was inactivity. Except Cunningham 06, we've yet to see sustained productivity.

Watson's effort will long be remembered & appreciated.

His EFFORT, yes. His VALUE, no. At least not by this fan.

In the end, as much as people bag on Chris Brown, he brought waaaay more value.

I thought Watson added value by his public appearances. He was the most available player to the public and very personable during a time when RSL was in bad need of a positive public image. He will be missed by 12 year old girls across the state. :)

I totally agree with this statement.

Better value? Hmmm... Perhaps going forward(?)--but certainly not over the past 3 years...

Everything Watson contributed since 2005 was gratis (courtesy Gen Adidas). Conversely, Chris Brown was a $70K per year drag off the bottom line.

They were both essentially reserve-squad players here. And their overall contributions to RSL's senoir-squad were arguably comparable. Both worked hard and without complaint.

But Watson was free--and generated countless dividends in the community.

BTW, this is a silly discussion, isn't it?

Yes it is! I'm hoping that some real activity will get going soon enough so that we have better things to talk about. Unfortunately even among the draft and some international signings discussion about 2 marginal (IMO) MLS players (Watson and Besagno) has dominated discussion recently. It's time to move on in my opinion.

First of all, agreed, it is a silly discussion, but what else is BS for in the middle of the offseason.

Second though, I thought I should point out, it is a common misconception that if something is free that it must provide at least some value. This is not always the case. If you "hire" your idiot cousin (for free) to paint your fence and he ends up dumping the paint all over your yard instead of your fence, you are at the very least needing to pay to replace the paint, plus any expenses to fix up the yard. You could make the argument that Watson, even being free, hurt our team by playing minutes that could have been given to others and then not producing in those minutes. I would not and am not making that argument, just trying to set the record straight on what a "free" item really means. The world is full of these examples.

Third, though I didn't participate in any of the meet the team, publicity days, or any of the like, I do see that they provide value to others. Jamie's participation at those events was awesome from everything I've heard. So, in finality I agree, to the RSL Business as a whole, Watson probably provided more value.

Comparable? Just for the sake of discussion... How many senior squad goals did Watson have? How many of those were game winning goals? and then ask the same questions of Brown's production? Isn't it all about production on the field, and not whether they are good at holding babies at CarsMart...

As far as free... I guess you get what you pay for!

In the end neither ended up being a value to RSL that is why they are no longer with RSL...

BTW... Silly discussion? That is an interesting statement that seems very unlike you.... Just an observation.

Tempting Deuce... but let's just leave it at this:

Watson & Brown are both class professionals. They deserve nothing but our appreciation for 3 long seasons of service. They are original RSL pioneers and will be remembered fondly. Nothing but sincere best wishes to both.

Aside: why do we feel we need to savage our former coaches & players around here? IMO, it smacks of club insecurity and is low class.
