Hi, I've seen a number of questions on pictures.....Pictures should be ready by 1/31. Good chance we'll beat that date, but what I've come to learn about these big projects is you never know what can come up. The roof is really the hold-up - getting pricing and determining shape, size, etc. Might be a good idea to do a fan/cauldron pre-showing to those that are interested? If that idea has any legs, we'll try to figure out how to do that. If anybody has a suggestion on a spot to do it, let me know that as well. Happy holidays....rh
Once again, thank you for keeping us involved. To keep us in the loop on these developments is far more than the ownership of all the other teams have done for their fans. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us!
Robb, we are planning on holding a general Cauldron meeting/Leadership elections sometime in Mid-January. If that would not be too early, we could possibly merge our meeting with a meeting between you and the Cauldron....if your interested. Oh, and thanks as always for keeping us informed as to the progress of the stadium project. It's very much appreciated.
this is what i was looking for. thanks robb. while i'm not a member of the cauldron, i'd definitely have interest in attending a pre-showing. we could do it at mccoy's in westport. it could be done in the reserved tobacco room, or if there's more interest, use the area with the stage. that could almost be a dream scenario: looking on as my club's new owners unveil our very own stadium design while drinking a hogpound brown.
I'm not a Cauldronite either, but I would like to suggest a place that might be easier to find for those of us not very familiar with Westport/Midtown. Maybe someplace right off a major highway, like I-435 on the south side??
Fabulous! Let me know & I'll be there. Will we be permitted to take pictures or will it be a closely guarded thing!
Drools over the word roof. Make sure the roof covers all four sides of the stadium, and is designed to keep the sound in and directed at the pitch. No open spaces under the roof like at HDC which allows too much noise to escape. Don't let any sound out, but let the sunlight in to allow the grass grow Intimate means intimate. Keep the sound in.
agree, the sound makes the enviroment which is the main reason to come to games. If you want to watch a game you can catch it on tv, the game day experience is what you come out for. The supporters section, arguably the loudest place in the stadium should be covered for that sole fact alone, if the roof can be made into a mega phone do it.
you could look at it as being a good opportunity to learn about your city... and not more about its sprawl.
Just offering an alternative....I would rather learn more about the stadium renderings than Westport. The easier it is to find, the more people might show up, the more ideas can be discussed at the same time, etc.
McCoy's is fairly easy to get to, it is at a main intersection in Westport. It doesnt get any easier to get to than that. Anyway, I will definately be down to attend the unveiling wherever it may be.
Wherever it is I hope you guys take pictures for those of us that can't be there. I can't wait to see them.
I'd love to do it at the training facility. It would be great if they would allow some video of the place and pictures of the stadium renderings to put online for those who couldn't make it. Of course only what they permit me to put up in case there is a press announcement coming later. Robb, would you allow something like this?
the Wizards Training Facility at Swope Park is on the same side of town as the Three Trails development and is easily accessible from I-435. it gets my vote too.
I don't want to speak for Robb, but I wanted to make sure people understood this before they got too set on the training facility. It's not particularly well equipped for a presentation like this. There's really not a huge space to do something like that. For 30ish people, it's probably doable... but for the numbers I suspect we'd see just based off of the interest here on BS and normal word-of-mouth, it'd probably be a pretty tight squeeze. And I imagine it'd be a bit too chilly to do it outside in the middle of January Just wanted to let you all know that the Training Facility might not be the best place for this.
