Chupalo, serrano. Was obviously talking about the pedigree of the teams, since both were pretty much 'unknown' prior to their success in these tournaments. But whatever, keep the hate alive I guess. (?)

Nice game by Arsenal, they created lots of chances and they deserved better than to lose 2-1. Funny how other times they bunkered and played like crap but they won, and this time they took the game to their opponent and they lost it.

But, 1-2 was enough to win the title, so it doesn't really matter.

The ref sucked, but there was no conspiracy. If they wanted Arsenal to win they would have given them one of those penalties that they failed to recognize.

I don't mind so much if the coach of America or the players are pissed off and after the game in the heat of battle complain and say some stupid things. I also understand a bit the complaining from regular fans, because fans are myopic, it happens everywhere, nobody likes to lose.

But the comentators are the ones who are a joke, they should definitely be more professional. I was watching Futbol Picante on ESPN, and those guys were calling the Arsenal players 'Cochinos', they were calling the ref names, that is not professional journalism. I just turned it off, it was ridiculous. And that whole thing about dispute over the goals on the road was a controversy made up by journalists who either were uninformed or wanted to create controversy. The rules were always the same, nobody changed them.

Mexico's football may be improving, but their football journalists are still in the dark ages.

You're the only one that hates 'serranos' and 'indians', you always have something negative to say about them. You got the wrong guy btw. When was the last time a Chile club won mhmm

Its sad that i have to agree with you...i think the state that mexican journalism is in right now is pathetic. It actually hurts mexican football more than it helps it. All they do is bitch about this and bitch about that..its amusing really..sometimes i just watch to see what kind of bullshit they'll come up with..makes me laugh. But even though they may not realise it..they're giving mexican football a bad name..and it pisses me off.

Did the word serrano offend you? Maybe I'm not the one with the problem, cholo. Please bring any quotes where I offend native Americans and then we'll talk, plastic.

Forgot to mention San Lorenzo was the first one on Arsenal's way who 2 months before being defeated was the argentine champion, and Arsenal defeated them at their stadium. River also lost to Arsenal in the Apertura, 2-1 at Arsenal's stadium, also Goias unknown or not is the team that earned their spot on this cup, you can blame the CBF for doing the correct thing but not Arsenal.

And no one said that this Arsenal was better than the Cienciano that won in 2003.

It offends me that you feel you are higher class enough to say it to anyone, when we all know you are a worthless individual with no class. You keep with the insults, and you cant even get that right. Keep trying chilena.

couldn't agree more. The rulebook states that away goals count. Also, away goals counted in the finals of the Libertadores so why would it be different for the Sudamericana?

i dont know about you, but I think I'm going to be cheering for the team from tunisia to beat Pachuca. I can't imagine having to watch Boca/Pachuca with the Mexican commentators. I thnk I might end up watching it on FSC (if they show it) if Boca plays Pachuca

the thing though is that, imo....the dirigentes, coaches, and to a degree, even fans.... feed off this lousy journalism.... because they feel free to say the most outrageous crap, as they are shielded by what constitutes a POS sports journalism coming from Mexico -or to be fair, SOME Mexicans in the media- So when fans say stuff, they will claim they heard it on the news or whatever, giving it credibility it should have never had in the first place, considering the poor quality of sports journalism we are witnessing....

We already had HUgo at NT level with his excuses when his team was playing lousy....of how wide a field is, whether it rained, when the grass was too short, too high.....the ref was crap, too sunny, etc. etc.....

BUt at club level, it is the same crap..... Maybe a huge reason is that as long as this lousy sports media keeps giving the Mexican club the "victim card" most fans will continue to stand by the victim and continue watching shows that feeds them such idea which in turn perpetuates the whole thing? I mean, better to say that, than it is to admit their clubs are capable of losing by -long gasp- their own damn mistakes also?

Whatever the case, it is despicable..... and sad...

I'll never forget Hugo after Mexico lost to Honduras in the Gold Cup this summer. It was all "la cancha, la cancha" and then somebody asked him about the result and he was all "oh no, we won. 11 on 11, we beat them. Only after the ref robbed us [Somebody got sent off in that game. Borghetti?] was the only time they could score." Such a punk.

What's really sad is peruvian clubs' performance in southamerican tourneys.

    That is a real tragedy.

Obviously you guys did not watch the game to not realize how the refs favored Arsenal mainly in the Azteca. Ok first of all in the first minutes of the games Arsenal's dirty player kicks Cabanas from behind.. no red card. Clear penalty after America was winning 1-0 no call. As a matter of fact the America player gets a yellow. On the second goal from Alejandro Gomez it's clear how Calderon takes it with his hand.. and my god calling offsides on a saque de banda.. LOL.. that's laughable. There are too many calls to sit here and name them all but ok you guys can keep on pretending like it never happened and take pride in ur win.. LOL

Grondona, Arsenal y una visita de riesgo
Publicado: 04.12.2007 | 17:56 en Weblog Los Especialistas

    (...)

Adding Fox GOl Mexico to the list of shows that are worthless due to the lack of any objectivity and a Hugo Sanchez like inclination for excuses and conspiracy theories.... My goodness.... is there nothing better to show on Fox?

Did you guys watch the Etoile vs Pachuca match on Fox Sports Espanol? Another low blow to responsible journalism. Etoile scored a goal near the end of the match, and the announcers didn't even call the goal. Instead of saying 'gooool!', they said something like "Uuuhhh!', Uy uy uy!". Then they started whining about it.

Is it too much to ask that an anouncer call the goals for both teams? Just to keep it real.

Mexicans have the worst commentators ever...like somone else in this thread said, their football is evolving rapidly but their commentators are stuck in the stone age.

Are South American commentators any better? I've never listened to any so I can't compare. If they are that much better where can S.A. commentators be heard. Not trying to take the piss out of you, just would like to hear S.A. commentators and see if they are better.

Does FSE change commentators for S.A. teams? Or is their another network that shows the CWC games?

They were using the Mexican commentators for the games involving Pachuca. Now they are using Argentine commentators.
