i'm getting confused. which, admittedly, doesn't take a lot. it certainly looks like you picked boys don't cry.
[Sorry about the confusion. I just posted the other stuff to show I was planning to pick it but then I found out it Boys Don't Cry was a US 1/1980 release. Sorry. By the way, I wouldn't have skipped anyone.] Here is my pick, although if it has been taken, it just shows I am not paying attention: I can see Aja going first but I needed a Steely, and although it looks like one will be left, I owe it to them to pick them at least by the 7th. Reelin and Dirty Work still floor me. The first and most pop Steely Dan. Steely Dan – Can’t Buy a Thrill - 1972 1. "Do It Again" – 5:56 2. "Dirty Work" – 3:08 3. "Kings" – 3:45 4. "Midnight Cruiser" – 4:08 5. "Only a Fool Would Say That" – 2:57 6. "Reelin' in the Years" – 4:37 7. "Fire in the Hole" – 3:28 8. "Brooklyn (Owes the Charmer Under Me)" – 4:21 9. "Change of the Guard" – 3:39 10. "Turn That Heartbeat Over Again" – 4:58 Live Reelin Perfect pop Halle/Steely link 1. The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East 1971 2. Specials Specials 1979 3. Neil Young After the Gold Rush 1970 4. Curtis Mayfield Super Fly 1972 5. Kraftwerk Trans-Europe Express 1977 6. Rolling Stones Some Girls 1978 7. Steely Dan – Can’t Buy a Thrill 1972
firstshirt thought you picked. i thought you picked. the fraze thought you picked. so pick now. edit: i see you did. keep up the good work.
I just reread my post, and I completely was sloppy in what I was trying to say. Boys don't cry is not eligible. I wish it were, but it isn't. I was merely trying to praise the prior pick by just posting some additional stuff. I will shut up now.
usually i would have had a quick look at the date as it was close the border but i was too busy at work yesterday. strange i know, but true. must be my lucky day.
snap, although I went for... Oddly, I think I met the drummer, Kenney Jones, in a pub in Reading about 4 years ago. I'd just popped in there at lunch time and this incredibly drunk guy just started talking to me (I am a drunk magnet). After a bit of slurred and broken conversation (he'd revealed that he'd been drinking for two days solid, which explained his lack of sartorial, or any other kind, elegance) he suddenly invited me to guess who he was. With no clues other than being man in his 50s with a drink problem, it wasn't an easy challange. He kept prompting "go on.....Guess!" as if it was on the tip of my tongue, when I hadn't the foggiest. Eventually he just gave in, and blurted out "I was the drummer in The Who." Now I knew he wasn't Keith Moon, although Keith might have actually looked more healthy, but I thought it prudent to not let on that I still had no idea who he was, as I'd never heard of The Who's replacement drummer, but he went on to tell me, among other things, that he and Roger Daltrey are "like this" (crossing his fingers), and that he owns a big house in Surrey (which narrows it down to just 98% of all pop stars in the UK). He "autographed" my newspaper before his taxi arrived, but I was none the wiser to who he possibly was until a google search when I got back to work. And it was kind of a surprise when looking up details about the Small Faces the other day (Lazy Sunday Afternoon just got into my head the other day somehow) to see he used to play drums for them too. I just wish there were more tracks I liked on the "best of Small faces" CD I bought on Saturday. With them being 60s regulation 2.5 to 3 minute tracks, the half dozen or so I like struggle to cover the trip to work.
Ok I guess we are all set now, oman picked, I picked and stilton picked although we might have screwed up the order a bit
here is some Deep purple for you Highway star smoke on the water space truckin and just for shits and giggles I threw in my favorite DP song Perfect strangers
right after me, i guess. firstshirt just PM'd me. my pick is Fran Welbernship's debut album: Songs About Yaks
I'm assuiming Fran Welbernship is a joke, right? As far as I can tell, StiltonFC is up, and Sachsen is on deck. Claymore, since this is close to 500 posts, could you start a new thread when it's your turn?
i think i picked already, but if i can go again, or take Can't Buy A Thrill, by Steely Dan, since it wasn't selected out of turn, i will.
Whoops, missed your post Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Clear Spot - 1972 Nice pick. Sachsen is up.
hey, I would have picked Captain Beefheart if everyone hadn't gone out of turn... here's how i see the past few hours: you got skipped so it's pretty much your fault what happened after that. plus, it took you long enough to recover. and then you said, after you posted your selection, "How come I got skipped?" i forgive you, though.
"Can't Buy a Thrill" was on my short list (but wasn't what I expected Auria to take instead of Aja.) Oh, and I'm all ready to pick if it turns out its actually my turn...
