Crucial win for Benfica. They need to take all 3 points at Parkhead too if they want to advance. Could Petit be back for that one?

I think this one is being rebroadcast on Setanta on Friday.

Agreed. Inevitably, there will be bumps in the road, and I expect Freddy will have a stretch more on the bench when some players get healthy, but the trend is certainly up so far. Good start to his time at Benfica.

comparing this game to the US vs Swiss game, it looked like Adu wasn't that confidence on the ball, not being aggressive nor creative at all in taking on defenders...maybe he's was being too cautious? just my take..

think playing has slowed down Messi's development? Benfica may well be doing the right thing for Benfica, but sitting on the bench is NEVER good for development your game-unless it is a disciplinary issue.

Hopefully everyone will be back including david luiz ,nelson, and even Gomes.

If everyone is I'll be very confident of getting three points there.

True, but Celtic don't seem to be the same animal either. Beyond Nakamura, they just don't seem to have much ofensive spark, and their defense was exposed vs. Rangers.

Adu had a better U-20 tournament.

For a start they werent playing to be offensive, the were playing to defend and hit on the counter, nakamura not even getting on the park would say all that needs to be said about the managers attitude to the game, and it almost worked, we were five minutes away from a fairly deserved draw, best of the first half chances fell our way too.

Secondly the weekend game was at ibrox and we just did not show up in the least, terrible performance from the whole team.

Celtics form at home in the champions league is formidable, only barcelona have beaten us at home in europe since 2001, could this benfica side get a result in glasgow? its possible, but i dont think they are anywhere near as dangerous as the benfica of last season, I think we'll be much more agressive at home.

Nelson Petit and David Luiz may be fit for the next match they will make our team look completely different. Don't be too confident ;)

we will see who is better when all is said and done. We saw them head to head at U-20 WC and Freddy was better.

You are probably right. It's a tough place for anybody to go and get points. I just don't have a good feeling about Celtic this year. I know they trounced a few SPL teams, but they have yet to really shine against stiffer competition.

Surely you are not trying to compare Messi and Adu at this point. That's insane. You just love raising the bar over and over....

Sure Adu is within spitting distance of Messi (age/level), but Messi ramped ungodly shortly thereafter.

If you think it is in the best interest of Freddy to put that in people heads, and build that expectation among the fan base.....well....let's just say I disagree strongly

Don't forget Dimaria also had a great U20.

Too bad I didn't swing by earlier today before the game, the game was televised in the USA on Setanta Sports PPV Pub channel. I saw it and looked great. If you go to Setanta website it will let you seach for local pubs that have the game.

Almost all Benfica games and Celtics games are always on Setanta PPV for European matches because they are so popular in the states unless ESPN has them playing and English team.

The next match will also be on Setanta PPV Pub channel on Novenber 6th 2:45 EST in the US

I think Adu has made great progress...remember when Camacho came in, Adu wasn't even dressing for games and didn't even sniff a roster spot for the CL games. Now, not only did he make the bench but he came on as a sub and played well. Much better than his earlier CL appearance. He has earned his minutes with a new coach, that's very impressive by Adu.

Lets hope Adu can keep chugging along and crack the starting line up. That would be the icing on the ********ing cake if he makes it in the starting 11 this year. Woot!

Come on Adu we know you have it in you!:)
