Thought this would be interesting for speculation sake and help to permit everyone to know more about their future opponents leading up to the first set of qualifiers.

Post a 35-40 man team roster with positions as detailed as possible (differentiation between types of defenders, midfielders etc, and country and division played in if foreign based) Later on it can be adapted as seen fit.

    Here's TNT's.

    Jan Michael Williams
    Clayton Ince (ENG - FL1)
    Kelvin Jack (ENG - FL1)

yeah but I purposely asked for 40 man non official rosters for a reason.

The TTFF has a similar thing up and there are a bunch of people who using the logical TTFF criteria should be there who are not and vica versa..

This is not abot what USSoccer wants but a mixture of what you think will happen (logic) and what you want (sentiment). It would be fun. As i said, another edition can always be done to bring it up to date and integrate the new data later on.

Come on. Give it a shot.

National teams play sporadically. At this time next year during the semifinal round of WCQs I would know a lot more about who the starters are. The United States is going most of a year from Copa America to the start of WCQs without any important games. As for starters, in this year's tournaments Tim Howard appears to have taken the starting goalkeeper spot from Kasey Keller. Out of the other ten spots, I would expect DaMarcus Beasley, Landon Donovan, Oguchi Onyewu (defended Jared Borgetti in the game that the United States cliched qualification to the World Cup), Carlos Bocanegra, and Steve Cherundolo to be certain or probable starters (the first two being strikers or attacking midfielders and the latter three being defenders). Since the World Cup, newcomers have included Micahel Bradley (coach's son) and Benny Feilhaber (scored in the Gold Cup). A problem for the United States has been finishing (scoring goals when we have chances). This has been a problem for Josh Wolff and Taylor Twellman, who along with Brian Ching are possible strikers. Pablo Mastroeni (defense/midfield) and Jonathan Spector (defense) are other possible starters. Midfielders Santino Quaranta and Kerry Zavagnin both played in 2004 and/or 2005 but I don't think they're at the top of the depth chart now.
Some of the players on the friendly roster I linked to I hadn't even heard of before.
During qualifying for World Cup 2006 the three CONCACAF national teams I knew the best were the United States, Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Way overrated. A bruiser who is relatively slow, and lacks skill and feel for the game. Still good for Concacaf, but not great. Wait till he has to deal with the speedier, trickier (the opposite of head-it-in, BamBam Borgetti) forwards in Concacaf--he already has at times and has looked slow and poor.

Nery Castillo would eat this guy up and he wouldn't even see David Suazo's heels.

yurp i concur, this guy looks dominant in the air against the aerial type in the box but versus a guy with a killer 1st touch and some speed , and 20 yds outside the box = liability defensively , the guy has some good set piece ability though for the concacaf

    on that note
i will not name any of guatemala's roster player / club etc

or players because i saw according to bruce arena's wiki page that he uses bigsoccer to scout us and get familar with names. and im sure Bradley will continue to use those resources .

well thats a bias website, they make their player seem like ronaldhio's and bash thier local players unless their youths on the rise. so its more or so likely not reliable;). nice forum and opnion columns though

heh heh - welcome to fandom.

I understand your point, but I do think that USSoccer has enough money to appoint scouts who speak Spanish to check out other sites than bigsoccer and even (gasp!) attend games with key Guatemalan players...

but hey here's an idea. Why not post a roster of guys who are sure NOT to make the team so the Yank staff will be fooled. That way, you'll be an active part of the war effort ! ;)

"For a guy who only two years ago knew next to nothing about the Internet, Arena couldn't live without it nowadays. He's online 24/7, he communicates to his players and U.S. Soccer via e-mail and instant messaging, and he reads just about anything in the way of American soccer journalism on the Web, as well as the BigSoccer.com message boards. "I got on BigSoccer.com through Bob Bradley. Bob said, 'These guys are ripping you all the time, you've gotta read it, it's pretty funny.' Actually, it helps me with some reports from Guatemala. I can find out more about their team over the Internet than just about any other way.' "

You have some that are not in the 23 man squad and forgot some that are. Good job!

Take that B. Arena ;) hahaha

PS: Right now we have some of the most famous players in the Americas. Moreover, no team besides Braz., Arg., Peru, and Mex., has a forward at a top-ten European club.

Check out the write up on Inter's frontpage

John Bodden will be the back-up keeper during the qualifiers. He's the best keeper in Honduras right now. The only thing he lacks is international experience. You may also add Mario Rodriguez to the list. One more thing, Hendry Thomas plays for Olimpia.

We have a pretty good team. But it's Emilio Izaguirre, thats my baby ;-).
And I don't believe that Saul Martinez has been called up but he should be.. I also hope we get Luciano Emilio..it wouldn't hurt to have a Golden Boot winner..

OK I'll give you a 40-man US roster for the WC2010, because I'm avoiding work. I put some younger players on there I hope work out, and left out some veterans like Kasey Keller, and Eddie Lewis who are just too old. I included the perpetually injured Corey Gibbs, because well, I'm sentimental like that and hope he gets back to full fitness. This is a team that has really strong goalkeeping and defense, but we have some real holes to fill over the next several years. We STILL haven't found a replacement for Brian McBride, and hopefully Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey can work out a partnership. We've gotta hope so, because the rest of the strikers are just OK. Good enough for CONCACAF qualifying, but won't get us anywhere in the WC. Certainly nobody in the class of Suazo. We'd love Rossi to fill that hole, but its not going to happen.

    GK (5):

    Tim Howard (Everton, EPL)
    Marcus Hahnemann (Reading, EPL)
    Brad Guzan (ChivasUSA, MLS)
    Chris Seitz (RSL, MLS)

    Jimmy Conrad (KC Wizards, MLS)
    Michael Parkhurst (NE Revolution, MLS)
    Neven Subotic (Mainz, Bundesliga2)
    Corey Gibbs (Charlton, English Championship)
