New BigSoccer (Baobab) Feedback & Suggestions Thread

Obviously it will take a little getting used too, and no doubt a few things will take a while to grow on me, but a couple of things I've noticed thus far. Actual workings will have to remain until later, but I'm one user who perfers an uncluttered page.

Firstly I can only seem to get 15 posts per page, could this either be increased or the option to increase to something a bit more reasonable? The option appears to be currently lacking (the 40 allowed beforehand was better, if in itself too small).

The second issues appear as a result of me using RIP. I've always prefered to see the message board take up the full width of the screen, but when you use it here, it seems to shrink the width of visible text as well. An option to remove this would be welcome (it doesn't add any functionality that isn't covered by the drop down menu below the pages).

And similarly can we have the option to remove all visible signs of the kicks. By using images reputation was easy to hide, this seems more of a challenge to get rid of.
Edit: Actually, I think I've figured this one out (except the bury it links), but it would be prefereable to have it built into the options.

Thinking of more: the username now appears to take second place to the avatar, prefer the older format there, especially as the username cannot change. And you can't see statuses either, would it not make sense for the mods/admin at the very least to be clearly seen?

 

I agree on the clutter. I also have never used any other skin other than the yellow default and I did it for a reason, it was easy on the eyes. The old team/mls branded skins are still there. Can we get the yellow one back as an option?

 

Basically the same as the post above: The option for more visible posts on a page, and also threads when looking at a forum.

I like the links to the forums on the lefthandside. However I also prefer more room for the messages themselves. Maybe change the "Forums" link at the top into a dropdown menu?

Don't see a point to the kick it feature.

 

Everything seems to run together too much (like the small black line separating posts).

Nobody likes the kicks.

 

Can we get the a link to the main forum at the bottom of the individual pages again?

 

Besides rep and post count being visible again, I don't see any difference at all. What's everybody talking about?

And my "skin" or whatever came up yellow this morning, so what's this talk that it's not an option anymore?

Don't have the choice to change skin either. (edit: that I know of at the moment)

I have post counts and rep visible - and am using the old 'Gold' (yellow) skin.

 

I have an all white skin, with red at places.

Just noticed it doesn't show which team one supports either....but that's probably for the bug thread.

edit: Another suggestion, I'd also like the account names to be more noticeable by making them bigger.

 

Me too. My "new BS" is the same as my "old BS" without ads, etc across the top and down the side.

Has BS reverted to a scaled down OLD BS, because of some bug?

Here's what I miss the most. I was a big fan of looking to see what the 20 or so most recent posts were, regardless of which forum, that used to be on the right side of the home page.

I though I had just figured it out by setting the home page to kicks and sorting by date. But that only puts the threads in order by when the threads were started. I think it would be more helpful to have the sorting by most recent comments/replies.

Here's what else I miss. What happned to the ability to go to the last page of a thread? When I click to go to a post, I go to the first page, as before. But, my options of the pages to which I can jump are then limited. For example, from the first page of a thread with 30 pages of replies, in the upper right hand corner, I can click to go to pages 2, 3, or 11. There are also the options for previous page and next page displayed. But, if it's a thread in which I've read the first 29 pages, I'd like to be able to jump to the last page as before.

As has been mentioned, I'm sure it will take some getting used to. Thanks for all of the hard work you do.

Seriously though, once all the little things are fixed, I expect it'll be fine.
They put far too much time and effort into this for it to be otherwise.

 

Some of you are still the getting the yellow skin? meh. I want mine back!

I logged out and logged back in. Wish I hadn't. Bring back the gold skin. Much prefer it to the harsh looking white skin.

 

Is it possible to put a shadow box around the "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the page so it sticks out?

Do not like all the empty white space on the left of the screen. Very much preferred that the messages took up the whole screen.

Is there a way for individual users to not have the forum jump on the left of the screen? I have never like it via the old format or this format that I have seen on other websites.
