Oh c'mon we all know that Devil HATES David Beckham by now, its just not worth talking about it with him.

Personally. I agree with Kait LA Galaxy knew exactly what they were getting when they brought becks. A player who still had a little bit left in him but was probably getting beyond his best (dispite the last few months) and they were getting a global brand. I mean, i'd never really heard of LA Galaxy before they signed David Beckham. The club are just enjoying the hype that comes with having a player like him there.

You type in LA Galaxy on google you get so much David Beckham stuff, you type in FC Dallas and the only thing you can buy is a match ticket against LA Galaxy to see David Beckham.

I guess now, its just whether the locals choose to accept him and his wife! haha!

Dunno about that I've seen quite a few good players come from NY who either played or are playing for the USMNT with other clubs also...I just think MLS needs to pay their players more cause there's no motivation to play if your making nothing really...

    England > USMNT

Just a plain and simple fact.

I love how kait is pointing out simple facts to devil in one liners!

Maybe soccer players in America should get paid more but maybe the don't at the minute because soccer isnt 'the national sport' im sure there are baseball and basketball players on the same amount of money as Beckham.

You can either love him or hate him. But you cant take away what Beckham has given and taken to the game. Premiership titles, FA cups, European cups, La liga he has a medal collection that many players would be envious of. OK so he hasnt won it all but he's won a lot more than many players out there.

Plus if these players you think are so good Dev, what are they doing still playing in America? No disrespect? But i thought they would have wanted to have tackled the premiership or spain somewhere like that?

True but England sucks atm also these guys need more money its a joke to be a pro making less than illegal workers...

I can say this also half the players can compete with the EPL but the league has been looked down upon..

England sucks at the moment (According to you).... and they are still loads better than the USA.. so what does that tell you?

David "sh!tty" Beckham has accomplished a lot more than most Americans ever will. He played for two of the BEST clubs in the world, Manchester United, and Real Madrid. He made things happen at both of those clubs. Maybe not every day, every match, but he did things that no other player will ever have a chance to do.

And I'll just repeat apps here - soccer, football, futbol, voetball is NOT THE AMERICAN NATIONAL SPORT. It sucks, I'll agree. But until more people like it, and more people stop hating it, MLS players are not going to make near as close $$ as NFL, NHL, NBA players. When you compare leagues around the world, like England is to Spain as Premier League is to Primera Division - that analogy does NOT extend to America is to MLS, because it is indefinitely NOT VALID.

In Spain, England, Holland, Germany..... Europe, Central America, etc, people LIVE on soccer. Here, the majority lives on NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB/NCAAB/NCAAFB. Until that changes, which it won't in the near future, MLS will be nothing compared to any other European league. In short, MLS players will not ever get paid as European players!

Also, if half the American players can compete so freaking well with the EPL, why isn't Clint Dempsey starting for a top of the table team? He subbed in for a team which almost got relegated......... real competitive.

BECKS IS GREAT BECKS IS GREAT BECKS IS GREAT!!!!!

Dev has just lost 200 man points in this thread....

FACT, only Yanky keepers have ever been successful in the prem, or infact in any STRONG euro league. America SHOULD be the worlds best at everything, with such a population with so much money, it's up to you all to sort it. Quit moaning about his salary, go watch the games, play along with Becks-mania so that all your mates and their mates go watch, see the sport grow and just hope the cash filters down into the grass roots.

England does not suck atm, we're like a dangerous snake only our head is smacking itself into the same brick wall time after time. Without Sven or McSven, who knows what the golden generation would have achieved. With our kids comin thru, all hope is not lost.

Saying this, USA's depleted squad at the copa america certainly looked more of a competent cohesive team against the argies than we did, even tho we robbed em and the US ended up gettin thumped!!!

100% agree! People at work keep asking me what all the fuss is about. Do I respond "He sucks, don't bother"? Or do I respond "Here's what makes Beckham great...."? Anything that garners interest in the league is a good thing to me. LA Galaxy have sold 250,000 jerseys since the Beckham signing. Hopefully they will use that money to retain some of their younger players from going to the smaller European leagues. I don't expect MLS to compete with the leagues in England, Germany, Spain, Italy or Holland, but they should be able to compete with Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, etc. Players are choosing to play there because they want more exposure to top level scouts, better coaches and more money. I think Beckham's addition to the league is going to help address these issues. Certainly the visibilty of the league has increased before he has even played a match.

Also, for the 94 World Cup I had the attitude that the US didn't know anything about soccer and it was going to be lame. I didnt go to any matches even though my folks offered to pay for the tickets. Huge regret.

I personally think that if it was any other player. Say, Thierry Henry coming to play for Galaxy you wouldnt be bothered. Its just because you dislike David Beckham for some reason. I have no idea why. But you should just sit back and see what he does for 'soccer' before you judge him. Thats all.

Yeah I do love TH14 cause he's amazing...Becks well he bores me could just be he's got too much love and support and I just don't really support those types of players...

But I will say this why the Galaxy the 2nd worst team in the league with a manager and coach who are just shite gonna be fun to watch em stay at the bottom.

Cant wait to see Becks play

Chelsea vs Galaxy game should be entertaining to watch. So glad ESPN is showing it.

Beckham to the MLS is great for America. People in America actually know who he is because of the tabloids. It should boost interest in the MLS.

And England is better then the USMNT but its getting a lot closer. Both teams have strikers that cant score. Granted the English NT team should be better b/c of the pool they have to pick from.

:( USA U20 team just lost to Austria. But Freddy Adu, Altidore and many others had good enough tourneys to spark interest.

    USA is closing the gap

He has played in England so he should be used to the aggressive style but I really hope that does not happen

lol devil, the american national side has no chance of being on englands admitadly average level atm

and lol at 50% of your players being premiership standard

you have about 4 starters at the most, and about 3 of them are keepers

untill your country ploughs countless amounts into 'soccer' on a level with nba, nfl and nhl you will never be a top tier footballing nation and with your leagues terrible format...will never have a competative league to europe

but have argy and brazil? no

europe is the home of football

the money is here, and it takes all world talent

as hard as it is to admit, you should agree...accept your country is inferior in football peramters and move on

just cus lual dengs in the nba doesnt mean i can compare the brittish league to the nba

i felt bad for liverpool today. with all these new signings i was thinking maybe a decent player to leave, but i got shocked when i talked with my mom. she told me Gerrard was sold. so i started to ask how much and when and WHY. ends up that she meant Henry. apparently she was talking with a co-worker from england and got to talking about soccer because he was wearing a new england home with gerrard printing. she said that i like arsenal and she couldn't remember my favorite player. he said henry and of course not knowing the difference between anyone she said yes. (it's cesc) he said to my mom that henry was traded blah blah blah. she just mixed the names up but i almost felt bad for liverpool.
