My first and only team is Chelsea (3rd year) and of course it's pretty easy. I haven't played that often but recently I played 4 days in a row. Here's my squad currently GK -Petr Cech (about to be sold for 27 mill to Arsenal) -Sebastian Frey (main GK) -Ikor Akinfeev (young GK, soon to be best GK) DF -Hedwiges Maduro (22 yr old, great bargain buy and magnificent defender) -Fabricio Coloccini -Rafael Marquez (free transfer from Barcelona) -Tayes Taiwo (He's Nigerian and his stats say it all) -John Terry -Paulo Ferreira -Christian Schulz MF -Steven Gerrard -Joe Cole -Javier Mascherano (23 yrs old, marvellous DM) -Frank Lampard -Mario Santana (although only plays AMR, he's awesome at it, prone to injured though) -Arjen Robben -Kim Kallstrom FW/SS -Fred -Javier Saviola (got him on free transfer, why not?) -Carlton Cole (his stat may not look that great, but damn he scores more than either Drogba, Gudjohnsen or Crespo) -Didier Drogba -Cesar Delgado (explosive striker, got him out from Cruz Azul for very cheap, probably one of the best in the game?) -Freddy Adu (put him in reserve squad for now) I love using "Monthly Installment" on transfer window I'm looking to manage bottom team to the top like D1 or D2 in England or Italy...or even MLS, what team would you suggest?
Teams I have given a go so far, had good success with most .... been playing since '99 Argentina Belgrano Austrailia Brisbane Belguim AA Gent - UEFA Cup Champ England Cambridge City - current team, League 2 season 6 Cardiff Chesterfield Doncaster - Prem Champ Kettering West Ham Germany Hannover 96 Rostock Holland FC Twente Feyernood - Champ League PSV Ireland Cork Scotland Rangers US/Canada Toronto (USL) - Freddy Adu, w00t! LA San Jose Turkey Manispor Wales TNS National Teams Canada Czech Republic Denmark Nigeria Poland Slovakia Slovenia Ukraine
I've managed (since Cm2 days) Clubs - Manchester united - Doncaster - Southampton - Roma - Palermo - Liverpool - Chelsea - Derby - Norwich - Sevilla - Villareal Nations - Singapore - England - Cameroon - Spain - Greece as you can see i'm a big Eng league fan cheers
With the help of Turkish midfielders and Swedish defenders I turned Beira-Mar, a smallish Portuguese team, into back-to-back CL winners with more than 50 million in the coffers. I hardly buy players. The free transfer and picking up promising youth players from the big team's academies is my modus operandi. Of course, I got bored with Beira Mar and took over Porto, but winning the league and CL in my 1st season has me looking for a new club. Lower division England here I come.
Haven't tried LLM much, with my only experience being with Swindon Town, taking them to the Premiership in 6 seasons, before I started itching for a new game. Other clubs I've managed: Chelsea (as a starter team) Barca (another starter team) Sevilla (Champions League and League double in 2nd season, won La Liga unbeaten) Bayern Munich Werder Bremen (2 consecutive seasons unbeaten) 1.FC Nurnberg (15th to 5th in half a season) Galatasaray CSKA Moscow Urawa Reds (J-league patch 2006, and my most memorable game) Countries managed: England Germany Turkey Japan (World Cup 3rd on J-league patch 2006) Iran (World Cup 3rd)
Still stuck on CM 01/02 although the latest version is tempting… So, here we go… England Newcastle (numerous times) Burnley Nottingham Forest (with the 20 M$ debt to start and never got money invested) Blyth Spartans (all the way to the First division before a crash ruined the game) Also, tried to ruin Sunderland in a similar scheme to the Man U one evoked earlier, but didn’t have the patience to see it through. Italy Udinese Avellino Inter – where I thought I had lost the title in the 38th game of the season believing that the tie breaker was goal difference as the team choked. Frustrated, I sacked myself… only to see that they had won the playoff a few days later… Brilliant! Spain Betis Espanyol Germany Kaiserslautern Argentina Argentinos Vélez Quilmes All spectacular failures Brazil Cruzeiro Vasco de Gama Russia Zenith Petersburg – back to back RPL champs Greece PAOK – a nice success Olympiakos – a so-so failure after moving on from PAOK Scotland Hibs Hearts – with a “Notts Forest” kind of debt Netherlands Eindhoven... not the PSV one. Where 20 loans are needed and thank god there is no relegation... And my favourite league...France St-Etienne – CL champs with Stern John as a SC Marseille – CL champs and 10 titles in a row Racing Paris & Red Star – trying to get to L1 and beat PSG (which I did with Red Star, but PSG was in L2 at the time, bummer…) Rennes Le Mans (with Drogba absolutely horrible in this version)
reviving this topic from the dead... listing all the clubs I won at least 1 trophy with. England Arsenal (05, 06, 07) Newcastle (06) Manchester United (06) Crystal Palace (05) Crewe Alexandra (07) France Lyon (06) Saint-Etienne (06) Bordeaux (06) Niort (06) Italy AC Milan (05) Spain Valencia (06) fewer than I thought...
I've played so many teams, playin the game since 03/04 My most succesful ones were with Spurs, Swansea, West-Brom, Ajax, NEC, Willem II and Helmond Sport.
I only managed Juventus (a lot of course), Italy national team to Euro Champions 2008, and now im manager of the Czech National team.
Just starting playing again. The addiction is horrid it may be worse than crack. In 07, as usual I am Halifax Town. I love the shaymen.
you bastards just had to bring this thread back from the dead, didn't you? now i've been forced to re-install this and use up what little freetime i had left after work.
Currently my savegames with Handheld 07: England: Arsenal (I keep getting fired) Newcastle (relegated 1st year, but now kicking butt-just unlocked "big investor"), Forest Green (favorite minnow club to try and bring up the ladder) Germany: 1860 München (na klar ), VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund Italy: Juventus, AC Siena
I'm playing as Tottenham. Got fired as manager of Blackpool after I demanded more transfer money. I sure don't have those problems at Spurs! I started out with 14 million pounds, bought Leighton Baines (6.5M), Luka Modric (6M), and spent the rest on various 16-year-olds. I'm sitting second in the Premiership behind Arsenal, although they're running away with the league.
Winning the Premiership is nails tough in Handheld 07. I've only won it twice (so far) I've even lost the lead in the last two weeks or so a few times. All those cup matches take their toll, and unless you have a really solid squad, top-to-bottom, forget about it. I've most often finished 10-12 points behind the leader. It would be a bit easier if Handheld 07 had a reserve team for the Premiership, so I could call up subs for injured players.
22 seasons in charge of Pisa, 3 Champions Leagues, 1 UEFA cup, 5 Serie A titles. Took Scotland to the WC quarter final.
Last time I played Footy Manager I finished season three with LFC winning Charity Shield, Prem, League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League & Cup Winners Cup. I've not played it since. I'm trying to learn the rules of MLS so am now trying a game with pre-beckham era Galaxy. Makes it even sweeter when I get the game for free from my buddy at SI.
just crushed chelski 4-1 in the champions league final with my madrid team. nearly 25 million quid, net average, per year, spending on xfers tho yes, chelski spent 80 million quid on shrek!!
I'm in the 8th year of a career that started at Barcelona. After winning the Champions League twice, La Liga three times and the other domestic cups a couple times I left for a vacant AC Milan position. Just starting the 2015/16 season with Milan. The board gave me a $290 million transfer budget, I don't know how I could spend all of that.
Oh man... I wish I could play... wound up tearing up and throwing away my football manager 2004 (I think that was the year) + deleting all my files last year... it was ruining my life... anyhoo, to answer the question... won the premiership with Chelsea, Man U, and Wolves... + the champions league with Reading... oh yeah and WC 2014 with USA. Putting FM on my resume!
I won the Premiership twice and the Champions League once in four years with Spurs. But surprisingly, I got kinda bored with them. So I took over Birmingham City (who were languishing in League One) and I'm in first place with about 7 games left...
2006: Started as manager at Man City. Sold off Samaras, Trabelsi, and a few others. Got Freddy Adu for $5M at the January deadline and eventually ended up in a good upper table position, just one spot shy of a Euro cup place. 2007: Man City -- Chose not to renew Beasley's contract. Portsmouth signs him up as a striker and he finishes top 5 in goals scored for the entire league (what??). Micah Richards is a beast; everyone else ... not so much. Corradi nets only 2-3 goals all season and in typical City form, no one scores. Joey Barton and Steven Ireland are ineffective while Freddy Adu starts out well but misses the last 50% with an injury. NO WINS AFTER DECEMBER! City lose on the last match day thereby netting 18th place and the drop. Expecting to get fired, I resign shortly after. 2008: Take a job at Serie B side Lucchese sometime in August, who I think are newly promoted and just awful. Sign up a few young Brazilian strikers and midfielders who get OK results but are still young at 17/18ish. I bring over a lot of Man City youth and they do alright, but not enough. Just like last year though, on the last day I get relegated after losing an awful lot in the 2nd half of the season. I don't get fired til July (thanks!) 2009: Hired about a month into the season by another newly promoted Serie B side, Ternana. Again ... just awful. Hardly any transfer budget and the club is deep in debt with little fan support hemoraging money by the day. I work the free transfer market for a few average Spanish rejects that unsurprisingly fail to live up to their stats. Club goes straight back down to Serie C; not a good track record so far. Once again I get the boot. 2010: Playing the job market isn't going so well for a 3-time relegated manager going into his 5th year as head coach. WC 2010 finishes with Brazil winning and tons of National team spots open up. Scotland, Ireland, and Nigeria are all willing to hire me (I might ask why though). I take the Ireland job even though the other two countries far and away have more talent. 2011-12: Euro 2012 qualifying goes well. Ireland make it through to the quarterfinals at the top of their group with relative ease only to get drawn against ... Italy. Crap. Lose 0-1 and that tourney is done for. Ireland did make it all the way to #2 in the World Rankings though (France was #1 for most of my time as Nat manager). Whoever thinks leadfoot Damien Duff and an aging Robbie Keane are honestly better than Brazil, Italy, England, Argentina, etc etc needs to have their head examined. 2013: WC 2014 qualifying -- Drawn into a group with Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Bosnia, and two minnows. Crap. Robbie Keane at this point in time runs slower than an NFL lineman. Damien Duff is still on the National team as a reserve even though he's been without a club for a year and a half now. Ireland has some good young, fast strikers in Keogh and Byrnes but they can't hit the target to save their lives. Humorously, they remain in the World Ranking top 10 this entire time. Ireland has trouble with their 3 headed goalie rotation (Given, why did you retire?) and Italy and Denmark go 1-2 into the World Cup. Keane ends up with 130-something caps. Rather than start over with another team, I retire sometime in early 2014. --- 2006: So about seven days go by and it's time to start the addiction again. I take up Lewes FC in the Conference South of England. Almost midway through the season now, I'm in 5th place. The club starts out with a decent amount of money but so far we've lost $60K even though I'm only using 60% of the wage budget. Guess they need to fire their accountant. It's sad how NOBODY will play for me on loan if their Finishing (or just about any other) skill is beyond 10. So what if we only get 220 people to our home games? It can't be that bad...
Picked up the Handheld 07 addiction again, probably the last time before Handheld 08 comes out in December... So now I'm playing Hibernian in Scotland, (with sugar daddy unlocked, of course ) with the added challenge of not signing the same players I always seem to get on free transfers like Tevez, Adu, Kerlon, Maxi Rodriguez, Palacios, Carragher, Felipe, Heinze and Buffon. Doing pretty decent so far, I have 2 titles and 2 cups in 4 seasons battling the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Hearts with only 3 Euro spots up for grabs. Can't seem to get past the second round (after group stage) in European cups though, and I can't find a good left-side midfielder to save my life.
I play LLaMa style on '07, so I had a 9 year career that started in the Conference North with Northwich Victoria, got them up to Division 1, then made the jump over to Plymouth who I got up to the Championship before I got fired. Rather than looking for a new club I wanted to tweak my DB settings so I started a new game. I'm in my second year with Lewes in the Conference South. Last season I lost in the playoff semi-finals and I'm in a playoff spot again on New Year's Day.
