I'm not the one flying, but a flight does land Thursday. Not a designated player, but what I think will be another really nice piece of scouting by the guys. With as well as all these guys are playing in the midfield and up-front it will be tough for this young kid. We'll see....He's a real Defender of Justice. Sorry, I've been away, but I haven't failed to read a bunch of the recent posts on DP anxieties, stadium concerns and the overall sense of pride about Curt's guys. I really don't have anything to add as it relates to the DP. We've got a nice roster right now, and I'm not sure where PV and CO would even go with the DP slot. We're a small market, but that doesn't preclude us from the DP and they know that. I wish I could tell you more about the stadium, but all I can say is we feel really good about the three sites. From a design perspective, it's an evolving thing, but expect something in the neighborhood of 18,500, 30 suites, some really cool fieldside seating, a great area for the Cauldron and all the other supporters' groups that are spawning, a dedicated youth soccer area, a design that's very integrated to the surrounding retail and if all things come to fruition, a really cool roof design. Lastly, New York was great this weekend, right up until minute 90, but still a great result. I couldn't believe how many Wizards fans were there. It was great to see blue in the stadium. I'm traveling this week and actually am watching the game on the web tomorrow night - bad deal. Cheer hard and see you Sunday..... rh
hopefully the 18.5K will be designed with the intent to expand in the future. hopefully the supporters section will stay on the 30 yard line +/- why aren't you coming down to the Embassy with everyone else, those that don't work for the state of MO would probably be able to buy you a beer or six
Just to get rid of that concern right away, we'll definitely have the ability to expand near to double the capacity....
that was hopefully a given but what about coming to embassy? was a blast last sat. but then anything is compared to 810 (we know you still cant speak negatively about them yet)
I'm pretty new to this message board thing, but from what I've seen so far, I am totally impressed. I find it very thrilling to read through everyone's posts to find out how the community is doing. Also, with our lack of respect from the local media, I think it's awesome that we can come in here and find out info from some of the FO guys themselves. This down to earth, nitty gritty approach really appeals to commoners like myself. I always wonder how some those big clubs relate to their fans. I doubt they do anything on such a personal level like this. I hope things continue operating like this. Kudos and see you all at the games (though I don't know you personally...yet). Lance
Well, all I can say is - if you continue to put games on the field as exciting and enjoyable as we have had so far this season consistantly then you'll be expanding that a lot sooner than you might have initially anticipated. I was able to bring multiple non-soccer fans/skeptics to the NY game and they said that they would actually consider comming again and it was a lot more more fun than they had anticipated. My only request is that you release information/plans/whatever about the stadium as soon as it's possible and feasible. While idle speculation is all well and good, I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
So, an Argentine, an Israeli, and a Mexican walk into a first place soccer club having difficulty with a stadium deal. The first guy.... Anyway, glad the legwork is being done. Add guys to see if they can help. The stadium is going forward via rumor at least. Also, the team has a shot at 6 points and unchallenged first place this week. Other than the Missouri TV side debacle, not much to complain about. It's better to be a Wizards' fan today than it has been in a long while. If a guy absolutely had to put together a snipe list: 1. Missouri TV 2. MLS Ref quality - or barring quality - when does KC get a makeup call? 3. Reserve highlights on MS when KC has less than 2 games the preceeding week. 4. Local media presence is rediculously poor. Ex. Condensed AP article for the report of the NY road game. No backstory, no league overview, no details, no context, just the basic description of goals on page 11. 5. Value from the DP slot if it remains unused. (DP to Chivas for El Guzano or something along those lines). 6. Any way to get a swimming pool sponsor to put one up for the Cauldron tailgate on gamedays? I'd love to see the swimmers be the new Wizards "Starting XI" ladies in appropriate blue bikinis. Speedo has a large presence in local swimming here certainly.
As always Robb, thanks for the personal connection to the team and enriching the KC Wizards forum here. You have no idea how these nuggets of information/communication reinforce to fans that we have some of the best in the business guiding this club.
Can you at least throw us a bone and let us in on the other two sites you are considering? We know about Bannister.....
Your enthusiasm is awesome!! As a field level photographer, I have a wish list that will help maintain a high quality visual print image: 1] Don't skimp on the field lighting. Since most games will be at night, low light levels are a photographer's nightmare; 2] Would be nice if the roof design would cast a complete shadow over the entire playing field during any day time match. Players running in and out of a shadow is another photo nightmare; 3] Provide photographer access along the sidelines. A variety of angles from the match creates a more interesting documentation. Can't wait to see the unveiling.
Hmm. Eloy Colombano. He's just turned 24, but has already spent 5 years at Estudiantes before Defensa y Justicia. That sounds promising. He's only 5'9" and looks a little too much like Eskandarian for my tastes, but it sounds like he at least has the pedigree to have a shot at success here. http://www.defensaaldia.com.ar/FICHA%20JUGADORES/Apertura%202006/Colombano,%20Eloy.htm Babelfish is always great. Its main weapon is the speed and the imbalance in the hand by hand. Like typical player arisen from Estudiantes, its main objective is to overflow to throw the center. In first of the "Kitchen maid", it played several parties like steering wheel by the right. There also Omen located and it gave good results him. It has everything like exploding and finishing being based like professional player. On only he its success depends.
This reminds me of the stuff that D.C. United supporters started when Christian Gomez came on board... The noise from the ventilators is powerful there.
You do remember that starting today, practices will be held at the new facility in swope park.....right?
I arrived at 3:20 or so. Not much to report - the first team did very little - jogged, etc. No Argentine (as Sam would say)/Argentinean. No new injuries to speak of. JC & EJ going to Copa America. The fields are exquisite. Didn't get to go inside the building though.
Jimmy is going huh? Well, ok. Too bad EJ is going too. Having CA and GoldCup run their whole tourney straight through is just really retarded.
If there's any real thought in that direction, please think Javier Saviola. I realize he's a long shot. But hey, someone's lottery ticket has to hit. Right?
