You are wrong, Partizan was no more of a regime club than Crvena Zvezda. Partizan had support of the army up until 1950 (and won 2 titles in that time). After that the influence of the army was lessened in the state and the army itself was not interested in football anymore, so Partizan was on its own from then on. That was apparent by the results as it failed to capture a title for over a decade until 1961. Then Partizan went on to dominate Yugoslav football for much of the 60`s winning 4 titles and reaching the finals of CL. And after that before the 1967/68 season the team that had been so successfull was dismantled by the decree of the state. And after that Partizan failed to win anything (including cups) for 10 years.

So if Partizan was a regime club please explain to me how come:
-It failed to win a single title in the 1950`s when the regime was the most, stable, powerful and totalitarian?
-It had its team that it developed on its own in years of crisis and that had performed so well dismantled by the regime in 1967? (guess who won the 67/68 championship)
-It was then left so damaged so that it didn`t win anything at all for the next 10 years?
-How come in the best decade for Partizan the state decided to invest into Crvena Zvezda by building for it the largest stadium in the country in 1963? (A year in which Partizan had won its 3rd title in a row with a completley club grown generation.)

So? 1. His paramilitary`s manpower was insignificant in the grand scheme of things. 2. No wonder since he was one of the Delije leaders on the Marakana.

Maybe because the movie begins in 1991 which is incidentaly the year CZ won the CL?? This is precisley what I was talking about earlier. By coincidence CZ`s succes came around when nationalistic feelings were the strongest and that messes up people`s perception (So if they had won CL in 1980 they would have been the most Titoist club lol).
You think Partizan`s fans spent `91 singing praises to the CP and protesting the war?

That's where we got it from too, Zvezda's group was Cigani for a while before Delije name came up. I still call them Cigani just cos I'm used to it, when i meet some Serb I usually ask Cigan il Grobar and if they're younger they look at me weird :D It was name of a group, not insult as far as I know.

Balkan sides make the "Meanest Fans List"

Fans are a big part of football, but besides their great support, they also bring a dark side in some cases to this beautiful game. bleacherreport.com has compiled a list of the "20 Meanest Fan Bases in World Football" and some Balkan sides surely would be in it.

Serbian side Red Star Belgrade have some of the most famous hooligans in the game. They tend to bring out their worst during rivalry matches with Partizan Belgrade. (see an example here)

Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb are known as to have one of Eastern Europe's most brutal fan bases. From riots to battles in the streets and stands with visiting fan bases, such as those of geographical neighbor's Sparta Prague, Dinamo fans are not to be taken lightly. (see an example here)

Greek side P.A.O.K. are well known as some of the meanest fans in Europe. The above video highlights the kind of host they can be to rival opponents. They have been involved in numerous fan crashes including one with Fenerbahce SK fans in Istanbul, Turkey. (see an example here)

Few fanbase's can make the phrase "Welcome to Hell," seem more real than those of Turkish side Galatasaray. Their previous stadium of Ali Sami Yen was one of the toughest places to play in Europe, and they have only continued that tradition since moving to the massive Turk Telekom Arena. In 2005 it took 8,000 plus police officers and officials to keep fan violence from breaking out between the fans of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the 2005 Turkish Cup final. (see here)

All biggest clubs in Yugoslavia during communist era were more or less regime clubs, especially those in First league, big four (Hajduk, Dinamo, Red Star, Partizan) of Yugoslavia were favored in every way, all talented players were going to those clubs, regime would simple put ultimatum that they must move to for example Partizan or he would go to jail, or someone from his family, thats known thing, especially during first two decades of Yugoslavia, but after all simple by favoring those clubs in first years after WW2 they gained big base of fans, and all players wanted to go there, so those four clubs just had to fight between themselves to grab them, while others had to satisfy with what was left.

Now after YU collapsed we feel horrible effects of that centralization, although im Red Star fan i like to see when someone support club from his town, which is very small percent of people in Serbia, and because of that other clubs outside Belgrade (and also others from BGD) dont have media attention, support, adequate stadiums after years of nobody noticing them, and thats why RS and PAR cant have good results in UEFA competition, because Superleague quality is low and lack of competitive matches, some things improving but its far from good.

And i dont like when someone say "Red Star Serbia, never Yugoslavia", because we should be proud of that rich history during Yugoslavia era, and should be grateful in how big club Red Star turned over years, exactly in that period, while in period after Yugoslavia Red Star have worst period in whole history, and if we delete that Yugoslavia period Red Star would be just decent club. Red Star have fans of all nationalities, in all ex-yu countries, and in region, so its not just club of Serbs, its pan-national club, as its Partizan. But during 80s and 90s for example Red Star was considered as only club of Serbs, while Partizan was Yugoslavian, same was with Dinamo Zagreb being only club of Croats, while Hajduk had lots of Serbian fans, which was not case with Dinamo, anyway everything was ********ed up in that 90s period. Im not nationalistic, so you can agree on this or not, but thats truth.

And on Red Star stadium, you obviosly dont know how Red Star stadium was built, there were popular ciglice (bricks), with which people from whole Yugoslavia voluntarily were paying, it was not real bricks just coupon, people were bringing material, money, even players were going around companies to search for someone to invest money, for example roof was sent from steel mill Skoplje etc., but of course some of people from regime that were in club pull some strings (like Krcun, minister of internal affairs) and financed some part of stadium.

Some Red Star fans painted one billboard across the Red Star stadium, just over Argentina blue stripes put red, and we got Messi in red and white. :)
