You know, maybe it's time that a new supporter's group comes together since Sam's Army isn't getting the job done.

You have to have the guerilla organizing in place that is now so much easier with the internet in place. I'm frankly shocked that a pre-match announcement for one section of tickets never came to fruition for this match...against Mexico.

If it's time to start a new, active matchday supporters club, then so be it.

I did call the USSF the day the game was announced. I've followed the USMNT closely over the years, but regrettably have never been to a game. As I live in Peoria, I figured now was the time to get off the pot.

What I wanted to know, having never been to a USMNT game, yet alone one against Mexico (even though just a friendly), was if the supporters were going to be segregated in any way. Whether any special security arrangements would be in place. I'm thinking about bringing the wife, kids and my parents, I didn't want to purchase tickets out of ignorance and end up in the middle of red, white and green. Also, I have some Mexican-American friends who may tag along and I don't want them in the middle of an all Yank section.

The person I spoke with (I didn't get his name) was on the events staff, and seemed surprised by my questions. I come from an English family so I've heard the horror stories from Europe so it seemed reasonable to me. He basically said that TicketBastard (pun intended) was in charge of ticket sales and seat allocation. The only exceptions he mentioned were for corner kids or whatever they call it, some promotional seating, and he did mention Sam's Army. So I assume that Sam's Army will have their usual section.

Side note: They have had massive problems with the grass field for the Cardinals, with lots of sections not regrowing properly after wear and tear. So the Fiesta Bowl and BCS championship games will both feature a newly installed artificial hybrid field turf - I wonder if they will try to resod the grass field for the game or if it will be the hybrid junk.

Alright so the USSF specifically mentioned there being a sams army section. So it seems like we might just have to wait a few more days Palermo10 ?

Edit- I just called USSF , the lady picked up and I asked about the sams army section , so she transferred me to ticketing I guess. The lady there did not pick up , so I left a message. Hopefully she will call back by the end of the day with the information.

The UoP stadium has probably THE BEST tailgating ammenities I have ever seen. It has this HUGE grass field called "the great lawn" on one side of the stadium. I've seen bands performing there before Cardinals games. It was created for tailgating. the only problem is that I've called the stadium about the parking for this game and they informed me that it will be free, so "first come first serve" If you have lot of stuff to carry to set up for your tailgate you should arrive extra early so you can get to the great lawn.

    Here's a link to parking info: http://www.azcardinals.com/gameday/parking.php

As you can see if you want to be by the great lawn, you need to enter into the orange parking area. Signage around the stadium isn't very big, so you need to pay attention to the signs and follow what they tell you so that you can find the proper entrance. I will be parking in the orange section so I can make it to the lawn. I think If all of US (U.S. supporters) park close together we should feel pretty safe going out to our cars after the game when we win as there will be a LOT of angry Mexican fans!

I'll be driving a rental car, so I should put a big US flag on top (Cinco de Mayo style). It'll be interesting to see what happens to the car/flag.

Sounds to me like an all-day tailgate. I might have to bring the smoker and a brisket or two.

Who's with me? Is the field big enough for some 3v3?

That sounds great but I don't think that they open up the parking areas untill 4 hours before game time. We might have to call about that.

I'll be driving out from LA Tuesday night. Looks like the Riot Squad from LA will have a small, but dedicated group. They haven't decided yet if they're standing with Sam's Army or doing their own thing.

I'm definitely standing with Sam's Army for this one. They'll come out with tix eventually. They always seem to have a snafu on this. I wish USSF would do a better job of getting tix to the dedicated fans.

As much money as I spend following the USMNT, I should have a ticket representative assigned to me.

I'm always for throwing back a few with a fellow RED!!!

    YNWA!!!

Yes the field is big enough for a little drunken 3 v 3. Usually during NFL games there's always a few people tossin' the pigskin around!

Just got this email from Sams Army. I sent them an email a couple days ago regarding the section:

Thanks for the e-mail. We are waiting on word from US Soccer. As soon as we get it, we will post it. Do not panic. There is a section reserved for us, we just don't know where and how the ordering will work, As soon as US Soccer works that out, we will post it. Thanks again.

    Mark S.

    So hang tight everyone. :)

If that is true and we are able to obtain tickets, what do you suppose would be the best way for us that already have tickets to dispose of them? Section 117 Row 7

Once a SA section is designated, I'd suggest contacting the place you got the tickets from then the Stadium (and then maybe Sam's Army as a last resort) and keep bugging them until you get someone to switch you.

Finally, you could get additional tix in Sam's section and scalp the other ones the day of or on Craigslist or something.

This is what I would suggest also. You would have to put out another 28 bucks , but chances are you could sell the tickets you already have , for face value or possibly more.

I'm guessing the SA section will be in 118 or 119 , possibly both.

I think it's the lack of relevant info that got the eyes rolling.

If people have a little extra time Arizona is a beautiful state to spend that time. I have never taken the road between LA and Phoenix, but I have taken the old Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe “Super Chief” twice. It runs from Flagstaff to LA. It covers that part of the trip at night. Flagstaff is a nice place. The youth hostel that I stayed at has closed but new ones have opened. http://www.hostelz.com/hostel/10623-DuBeau-Route-66-International-Hostel The problem with Flagstaff is that the freight trains blast through ht town all night long. It is the jumping off point for the Grand Canyon, which I was a little disappointed in.
Also near Phoenix is Sedona, the Deadhead capital of Arizona. The local paper had two photos on the front page: A UFO and Jerry Garcia. The setting is spectacular and the road from Phoenix is also very scenic. But Sedona has a lot of New Age hucksters.
I drove from Phoenix to San Diego via Yuma. This is a very isolated desert route, exotic for a Midwesterner. You can see some unique desert sights, including big cacti and sand blocking part of the road.
The Great Painted Desert National Park is also interesting, but for me, not as good as the road trip to San Diego.
There are some Indian towns with some interest for the tourist. Tuba City is mostly Navajo, and they are grilling corn on a brazier and selling it like in the old days. There are other villages, including a Hopi settlement that runs a hotel, built in the old Hopi style. The Indians were nice; I did not detect any hostility, at least on the surface.
The Meteor Crater is also interesting. It has a Space Museum. But the entrance is expensive, something like 12 dollars.
You can also do an excursion to Mexico, crossing the border at Nogales, where a superhighway continues all the way south. There are two routes that are close, one to Rocky Point and another one to San Carlos.
Wish list? There are many. I would like to visit the Superstition Mountains. There is an old ghost town, Tortilla Flat, that has been fixed up for tourists.

    • Section 210
    • Row 1
    • Ticket: $145.75
    • Building facility charge (probably the tax charged to build the stadium): $4.25
    • TicketBastard Charge: $11.50 !!!!!!!!!!
    • Total cost for front row center second-level seat: $161.50
    • Seeing your first US-Mexico game in person: Not priceless...

Is it just me or is this some f'd up pricing? Maybe I'll stand with the Sam's Army crowd...
