You know whats funny this guy Pinto was sitting just at the front of me in a barranquilla to bogota Aero Republica flight back in summer 2004. He was on his cellphone and annoyed everyone cause we were about to take off and he wouldnt hang up!!! lollol
It took me time to realise who he was cause he looked awfully familiar, then he mentioned to his friend that we won a game and went through with his team, and thats when i realised OMG.....yes its him!!! he coaches Costa RICA!!! lol and he's colombian. Shamed I never got his autograph, cause i thought he's just a nobody...lol lol

Anyways I hope he succeeds and he's got time to prepare his team in friendlies and copa america 2007.

Re: Jorge Luis Pinto news and rumors

same old same old we will play ecuador and mexico like always haha... but I hope we play a few European teams that are good like Sweden, England, Spain something like that, not finland or iceland like we were supose to play last yr.

one thing tho that I like about Pinto he said he was going to work very closely to Lara and try to bring 3-4 youth players each game to get experience :)

I wonder who is going to make the team, it seems like he is looking for our current sub 23 as the basis of his team... I wonder if he will still think about players like Yepes and IRC.

What things should Pinto and the Fed do different in this new era?

what players should come back from the past WCQ? what new players should we bring? should we change the sede? and what teams should we play in friendlies?

    Re: Jorge Luis Pinto Era

    good topics....

Pinto needs to focus on our homegrown talent. Guys that are excelling locally and then adding the 2-3 European "stars".

First and foremost, Pinto and the federation hopefully realize that the Mexican league has become a true contender in the americas and doing well in Mexico should not be overlooked. This is something that many south american countries have done EVERY year. But think about our BEST players in the last 2-3 years : Chitiva, Calero, Rey, Mosquera... all top players in a solid league. Pinto having coached in central america where the Mexican league is so 'top dog', he's aware of that talent pool.

Secondly, no favoritism. If JPA isn't scoring for the NT, then it's time to say bye-bye. This was Rueda's 1st mistake. You can't insist on players that are not producing.

Third. Pride ..."Garra Colombiana"... Garra is not a trait only found in Uruguay. It's a "state of mind". He needs to instill a PASSION for the NT. A need to triumph for your people. Knowing that Pinto was shedding tears when being officially named DT made me realize this guy REALLY wanted the job.

We need to called players that are producing in their team’s period. If angel is producing we should called him up if he is not o well, that goes for any other player.... Colombian strikers right know are not that hot. The only ones producing are the ones at home; the foreigners have trouble just getting some playing time less much producing.

i agree with most of u on everything but the angel thing... HE GETS 2-3 Guys marking him and Rey had no one that why Rey was always opened.... WTF was Ray and who is Angel... No one really marked Rey and made it easy for Tessor to give him the ball or run in for a goal..
Angel doesnt have to play well nor score, his presence is felt. I dont want to compare him to Ronaldo but even tho he is fat and out of shape and not scoring are u not going to mark him he is RONALDO.

    Re: Jorge Luis Pinto Era

Can anybody translate? or at least lend him some tapes so he can watch the games again?

As good as Angel is, and as much as I respect him, he is in the downslide of his career. He will not get better, he will have good games, but they will come less and less often.

On the other hand in Rey we have the only other colombian striker that has been the top scorer in a foreign league, a guy that knows the game so well that does not need to score to have an impact. He is only 26, meaning he has 3-4 more good years, he could be peaking by WC10!!! And if you think nobody was defending him, take a look at the Uruguay-Colombia game in Monte-Fideo. He created several opportunities by himself against 2 or 3 defenders, only on skill. Yes Angel scored the tie in goal but it was in a cross from Soto. If somebody needs to be served with crossings all the time, is Angel, not Rey.

even if we dont get a friendly we should have a training camp like what Austrilla did when they got the old korean coach... they were supose to play colombia and just trianed with the new coach. The colombian league will be over and he can bring the 50 players he wants to see which ones work with his system..

well it does and angel isnt fat and isnt that old just 30 i think... but seriously other than Angel what other colombian striker is respected or even known? THere isnt any other than Asprilla and he isnt coming back...

All I am saying is the fact Angel plays in Europe means players will try to mark him more than some random guy playing in the colombian or mexican league.

He's 31. And he did gain some pounds eating all those FRIED MARS bars:p .

But to your other point, that's pretty valid. But he's losing his 'pedigree'. You think a DT from another NT is going to say, mark Angel no matter what!

Falcao, Renteria and Rodallega are well respected. Rey has proven his worth in gold. BUT you're comment goes to my ORIGINAL POINT in this thread that said "PINTO AND THE FCF NEED TO START RECOGNIZING THAT THE MEXICAN LEAGUE IS CURRENTLY on pace to be the best league in the Americas, SO DON'T DOWNPLAY ANY OF THE PLAYERS THAT ARE SUCCEEDING IN THE FMF LEAGUE" -- case and point - "CHITIVA, MOSQUERA, REY, RODALLEGA, TRESSOR"!

I agree with 90% of this, but you've gotta admit when Angel scores a goal - even if it comes from a good pass - the guy scores some beauties. He scores a lot with his head because he's got major ups, but his goals against Argentina and especially Peru in Lima a few years back were spectacular.

that sarcasim? I def think its a good idea tho but when I bring it up people dont like it. I mean he cant just be given our NT because we havent been to a WC in 8yrs :( but he def should be tring to make his way into the colombian NT.

It would also be cool if he was given Cucuta (cool but unlikely and to risky considering there in copa lib), Real Cartagena, or Union Magdalena ( best bet if he brings them up to 1st then he will show his worth)..

I agree what people say about Angel, I montior his progress in the premiership and boi...... he isnt flourishing like he was in previous seasons. He hasnt been starting either in these last couple of games for Villa so it doesnt looke good.
However he is Colombia's main strike force with Rey and I would still pick him only on experience, but players like Falcao Garcia must be picked for la Seleccion. Falcao is the MAN!! lol
He looks a very deadly finisher and since River sold Higuain to Real madrid yersterday, hopefully we will see Falcao start for River. I mean he's a hot prospect and his statistics are good. Pinto would be a fool not to pick him!!!
