    comentarios?

Colombia hires Jorge Luis Pinto to lead national team

BOGOTA, Colombia: After failing in its attempt to hire a high-profile foreign coach, Colombia's soccer federation has settled on Jorge Luis Pinto of local club Cucuta Deportivo to hopefully lead its national team back to the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

"Pinto was chosen as coach of the national team by a 6-1 vote and in this moment we are negotiating the economic part of his contract," Colombian federation official German Colossus told Caracol Radio on Tuesday.

I don't agree with you. with all the respect, you can't compare between colombia and guatemala. like you said that guatemala lost all the games, bolillo led Ecuador to their first WC in 2002 and made them a good team. he also led Colombia to the WC in 1998. why?? becouse the players were better then the players of guatemala. even guus hidink won't succee with guatemala. my first option is to give the job to pibe valderrama but since that's not gonna happen, I'll prefer H Gomez as head coach and Pibe like assistant coach. I think they can bring colombia back to the highest levels. the generation of 2002 and 2006 that failed, was talented but the next generation is talented too, some young players can jump directly into the first team even though they're 19-20 years old. (like Ospina and Darwin Quintero for example)
I think the FCF will choose Pinto eventually and he's good coach too, but he doesn't have the internationally experience like Gomez has.
well either way, GOOD LUCK FOR THE NEXT HEAD COACH!!!
    VIVA C O L O M B I A AL MUNDIAL 2010!!!

Re: Jorge Luis Pinto news and rumors

in 98 colombia had pibe, asprilla !!!! any one can qualify. In 2002 Ecuador used quito which is the reason they qualify.... and still is.

Guatamala cant be compared to Colombia in terms of players nor skill but do they play the same teams??? Colombia plays big boys like brasil and arg while Guatamalas biggest challenge is Mexico and the US who have trouble beating a colombian Sub 20.

K now to be even more realist, Colombia doesnt compare to either of these teams because colombia is no were near as good as brasil or arg but would compare better with the 3rd and 4th best teams in SA like Uruguay and Paraguay. Colombia is better than Paraguay in terms of players but not better than Uruguay in this since, but had more chemistry and a better coach.

Guata has to compare itself with Costa Rica, Honuras and Jamica...... power houses of the concacaf... SO u see this is how i am comparing it.

Even Pinto when he coached Costa Rica showed his potential sure Colombia owned him in copa america with a b list team but still you expected this because the quality of players.

to say Guata isnt winning because they suck is stupid its the coach because they always almost qualify for the WC, same as colombia does. Bollio is just a bad coach, he got lucky in 98 for having the best colombian team in a long time and what did he do BENCH THE BEST COLOMBIAN DEFENDER EVER IRC ????? IN 2002 he got lucky by having a decent team and having colombia just go down the hill by changing coachs...

Re: Jorge Luis Pinto news and rumors

Boy what a rant of missinformation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinto was kicked out of Costa Rica for bad results...

Guatemala has never ever qualified for WC, simply put they do not have the players for it....

The only powerhouses in Concacaf are Mexico, USA and Costa Rica. The fourth team is always changing, Jamaica, Salvador, Honduras, Trinidad... but none of them have the dominance of their big 3 in the region...

And I do not like Gomez, but I think that he has a very difficult job with Guatepior, but they have never been a powerhouse, no reason why a so-so coach will change them into a contender in a blink...

Go do a little research before you fill the forum with cr@p!!!!

Re: Jorge Luis Pinto news and rumors

I'm just happy the coach isn't Rueda. This guy had bad results no colombian coach has ever had. Everyone always forgets the copa oro. Losing to Panama twice and Honduras in the same tournament is simply unacceptable; no matter which players colombia is playing with. Then we had a must win against chile and he puts everything on Pacheco's back who at the time was rocking the bench in Atlante. The man was making stupid moves that made no sense. If Pinto messes up this summer in copa america, lets not waste any time, just cut him loose, at this point theres no point on waiting for coaches to adapt. we have to hit and run, no results, your gone. like argentina and mexico do.

dapip is right, you can't compare gomez's work with guata and say he's bad, and with ecuador you say he was lucky. Gomez did great thinks in the Colombian football with Nacional too, he's very good coach, got much more international experience then Pinto, but Pinto can lead us too to a great result. don't forget he has the COp America first, let's see how's this tournament will go for us.

Re: Jorge Luis Pinto news and rumors

if he fails in copa america give rueda his job back...

remember that for copa oro Rueda wasnt given the players he wanted and look at the players he took to copa oro... all sub 23 players... he was just looking for players that could be used in teh future and give them expierence. The only player who started in the NT was Tessor who played awful that tournie and Haydir who he never even played. Another thing did u go to any of the games... I went to teh semi final of and that game was bullshit Aguilar scored the ball went past the line the goalie picked it up and they said it wasnt a goal, and a bunch of bs offsides calls.

    also even they preformed bad
    tessor went to mexico
    renteria to brasil
    aguilar to italy
de cuesta more time in his team in spain

Altho it went bad I dont blame Rueda..

remember last Jan when colombia played a team in spain and the fed only gave rueda 9 players in the colombian league :) we played with 13 :) and lost

blame him all u want but he isnt a bad coach we just have an awful fed

i agree, colombia had enough talent to beat panama, they had patino, renteria, azuragua, this was no excuse to lose. 1 loss i could of tolerated, but 2 losses to panama and one loss to honduras, im sorry but we have come a long way to be losing to these real low level teams
