Forum Moderator and New Tagline
Congrats to mellon002 for being named Stats & Analysis Forum moderator. It'll certainly be helpfull to have someone with that capability going forward to take care of some of the things around here.
I'll also ask you to notice that the forum tagline has been changed. Hopefully that'll mean that a google search of "soccer stats" will yeild this forum, drawing more people to the site.
Many thanks to Huss for culminating some of these things, both of which should be a posative development for the forum.

I wrote Huss when Maxim suggested that this board needed a moderator. I asked for the spot and applied and just heard back from him saying that I got it.
Basically, I'm here to serve you guys in whatever way possible. I just knew it would help if someone filled the spot so I asked. Whatever I can do to make this board better just let me know.
Any suggestions on what I can do for now?

Kudos. I think the first order of buisness would be to make the original thread that started this forum a sticky, and maybe we should begin forming some kind of FAQ, or Purpose Statement.

I'd like to see a 'Stats Resources' thread or something like that stickied. As is, people will find a site with some statistics (such as the MLS playoffs statistics or the enbltd site), or a paper analyzing some interesting subject. They'll post it in a new thread, and it will drift away. It would be very convenient if all these were arranged on just one page.
(also, since I think moderators get sigs, I'd like to see a shout out to the forum in yours, mellon )

Alright well let's start to put this stuff together. We can post any FAQ's in this thread and then I'll organize them into a sticky. I think we can agree on a Purpose Statement and post that with the FAQ thread.
I don't think we get signatures unless we have a premium membership. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting one soon now that I'm a mod. I'll definately post a link to this forum when I get a sig.

Here are some of the things I've noticed in other FAQ threads:
Guidelines on results or spoilers, duplicates, flamming, trolling, and spamming.
Any other suggestions? I don't think it needs to be very elaborate in terms of guidelines because this board has a specific purpose. Post any questions you think people would have when they first check out the board.

All of that stuff really isn't an issue in the forum because this isn't really a general discussion forum.

I agree but we do need to set some guidelines on whether a thread deserves a [R] or not. I think that a thread with statistics that are less than a week old should have a [R] in the title. So if you were doing a thread on how Carlos Ruiz was doing this year compared to the same time last season and it had stats that were less than a week old, a [R] should be used in the title.
Does that sound resonable?

The rule at YA is 24 hours, and I think that's the rule elsewhere.
I am more concerned about threaddrifting posts within a thread that reference results.
