The free-scoring Dutchman has done little to quash the rumours and admitted: "I was asked if I'd be interested in a move to Barcelona.

"If they came to me, I would be flattered. I would be interested.

"I love playing for Chelsea. The fans were magnificent, even after all these stories appeared.

"But I am a professional and I always want to play at the highest level. If a club like Barcelona comes in, you are going to think about it.

"I am not putting myself in the shop window. I am happy here. I'm telling you the position."

Ranieri said: "I don't know what is going on. Maybe Barca want Jimmy. If they do, they must speak with the chairman.

"For me it is important everyone stays. I want to keep Jimmy and I expect him to remain here."
