Bundesliga 2008-2009 Season; All Teams (R)
Footyfan1 posted this on our BvB list with the title "Amazing" - it is amazing, and also why the Bundesliga contiues to be one of the most exciting leagues out there.

After Saturday's matches, there's a four-way tie on points for second place in the Bundesliga!!!
Bayern and Hoffenheim have the exact same goal difference and the exact same goals for and against!

I like that too, but I begin doing it when there are a single digit number of matches left in the season.
There's still 11 matches left and too much can happen. I see some people already trying to hand it to Hertha.
Well, they are about to face what I call "the meat" of their schedule. In their next seven matches, they face:
Leverkusen (H)
Stuttgart (A)
Dortmund (H)
Hannover (A)
Bremen (H)
Hoffenheim (A)
and HSV (A)
After HSV, they have Bochum at home and they travel to Koln before going home to face Schalke on the penultimate Saturday of the season.
They finish the season in Karlsruhe.
Looking at that schedule, I can see why Vfbstuttgartfan would have someone other than Hertha winning the title.
Leverkusen just had another crap result in the Bundesliga, which means they'll probably have another fantastic match in Berlin.
I think Stuttgart is playing the best, most consistent football in the league right now. They'll want to make a statement against Hertha.
The way BVB is playing right now, all Hertha has to do is score first to take us.
Hertha should take Hannover down.
Bremen is hard to tell. They are showing signs of being "back", but haven't quite pulled that "big victory" to prove it.
Hoffenheim? Well, hard to tell where they will be by then. Except for Ba's outburst against Stuttgart, they seem to have forgotten how to put the ball in the net.
HSV? They were my favorites to win it a week ago and for me, they still are.
But I think I'd better do the thing at "Kicker.de" later on to confirm that! LOL!!

Oh, I had never known about that thing at Kicker.de
I just put in my predicted results for the rest of the season, and it gave me:
1. FC Bayern München - 69:38 - 69 pts
2. Hoffenheim - 68:40 - 65 pts
3. VfB Stuttgart - 65:41 - 64 pts
4. VfL Wolfsburg - 60:41 - 61 pts
5. FC Schalke 04 - 47:28 - 61 pts
6. Hamburger SV - 48:42 - 61 pts
7. Hertha BSC - 50:39 - 59 pts
15. Karlsruher SC - 24:58 - 26 pts
16. Bielefeld - 23:49 - 25 pts
17. VfL Bochum - 34:63 - 23 pts
18. Cottbus - 23:56 - 23 pts
My predictions seem really optimistic to me as far as my own team is concerned, and I think the teams at the bottom end of the table will finish better than my prediction has them, as there are always upsets in there, but it's hard to pick a Karlsruhe to beat a Hoffenheim and so on. Overall, I don't think it will end up anything like that, other than I expect Bayern to win the league, mostly because, let's face it, they usually do. I can also rarely bring myself to predict a draw or even close games in lots of cases, so I know the end result will look nothing like my table. Still, it was kind of fun.

Made better by the fact that we thoroughly worked them in a game as part of the stretch run that won the league for us.

So has Hertha this season. Maybe they can pull off what you guys did. Maybe HSV can.
Maybe you guys can pull it off again.
I agree with you when you say Bayern usually wins the league. That's just fact.
But it might not happen this time.........

Yeah, Hertha is beginning to remind of us a bit in that season. Not so much in terms of playing style, but just as a team not really picked by anyone to make many waves in the league, yet they keep winning.
Still, I'm not that convinced, which I guess you can see in the fact I have them finishing 7th. They'll probably end up better than that, but I just don't get it when I look at the team. Voronin is really looking like a player that would interest a club like Liverpool, even though I and many others were scratching the head and saying "huh?" when they signed him before last season.

Thanks for that, didn't know it. That's pretty cool.
My picks
1---Wolfsburg - 66
---------------------------------
2---Hertha-------65
3---Bayern-------64
4---Stuttgart----62
5.---Hoffenheim-59
Kinda weird since I totally expect Bayern to win it all. Apparently I have not much faith in Hamburg and Loserkusen
---
16---Cottbus
17---Bielefeld
18---Karlsruhe
Cottbus will then beat Fürth. So heartbreak again for Fürth after finally
finishing 3rd.
Gladbach will finish 11th and 96 13th.
Btw, didn't we decide a while ago to put all "general" threads on the first page so that it wouldn't only consist of prediciton threads?

It might not happen. But, personally, I expect it to.
Now here's a very out there prediction:
I don't expect Hertha to qualify for Europe.
There, I said it.
