Japan U-23 vs Russian NT at Shizuoka Ecopa Stadium [R]
Japan's starting lineup will change. Takamatsu (Oita), Sakata (Yokohama) and Matsui (Kyoto) will be the attacking trio supported by Kazuyuki Morisaki (Hiroshima) in the midfield. The players like Tanaka (Urawa), Yamase (Urawa) and Konno (Tokyo) who started against Iran U-23 will be probably rested, although Hirayama (Kunimi High School) might play in the second half. They have to prove themselves here.

Aren't they too tough for Japan U-23?!
It's not a full-fledged Russian National Team but there are some familiar names like Boulykin, Kerzhakov, Sychev and Onopko. The Russians will also play S-Pulse at Nihondaira on Saturday.

I think too tough for Japan U-23.
Previous Japan Olympic team played against Peru NT in Japan at 1999.
Japan 0-3 Peru.Complete defeat.
I hope Japan play bravely.

halftime
1-1 at halftime.
Russia was offside on their goal though.
Nice run by Tulio, who was fouled from behind but managed to beat the goalie to the ball and get it over to Takamatsu who finished.

1-1
match ended a 1-1 tie.
Exciting at both ends of the field.
Russia had the size advantage but just couldn't find the net. Even when the Japanese goalie went down in a heap, a Russian shot bounced straight off the fallen goalie.
Tulio almost scored in the second half on a nice shot but the Russian goalie managed to stretch out and get a hand on it.

Tulio doesn't look like a defender to me. He's very aggressive in attack. Nice effort by Japan against a better team. Keep up the good work!
The Russians will play S-Pulse. I'd rather watch an international "A" match between Japan vs Russia though.

that's a good result for your U23 team, and a confidence booster, not to mention the experience by itself.

it'll be a waste of time. a team that is good enough to qualify for euro doesn't mean they are capable of beating japan senior side. if they are lucky like romania they will get a tie though. s-pulse is at least stronger than our u-23 so it should be more than enough for russia.

Tulio makes a team hot! (though I am worried
about his defense)

I found a article about this game.
Russia was far from their best, but 9 players of them were not newcomers for NT,including 2002 WC members,so good result for Japan U23.
