This Beers for you?
Something I noticed during the opening game and I was curious about:
I noticed a Budweiser Beer ad pop up on the sideline billboards during the West Brom game, and this really surprised me. I know this is trivial, but I can't imagine Budweiser ever selling much Beer in England. Seems like a shot in the dark as far spending their advertising dollar, but maybe I'm wrong. Roy Keane partial to the watered down pint?

Maybe that's why he's been so on-edge lately?

Honestly, Budweiser is huge over there. I was in London a few years back, and I went into a little mom-and-pop owned corner store with a sliding door cooler full of cans and bottles of beer. Two rows each of Newcastle, Tenants, Harp, Guinness, etc, etc, and, like ten rows or so of Bud. And it was pretty much like that every place I went. No kidding. I don't get it either.

Apparently Bud is big. I was in Toronto in 98 & at all the clubs, folks were drinking Bud. However, it was 5% Bud though.

I can see people liking some of our microbrews: Sam Adams, Fat Tire, Sierra Nevada, etc. But Bud? I'm just surprised that the English would like such a watery beer.

I was as surprised as you are. In fact I believe Budwieser is the reason many people dont like beer. They try it for the first time... Its bland it, smells bad and it truly ranks as one of the worst products from this country. Sam Adams certianly would make more sense especially in a beer drinking country such as England. I believe Bud , being large and powerful, is American beers first attempt in England.

Yeah, I was just as stunned when I was over there this past summer. In one of the bars, I remember asking the bartender "What are ya serving that piss for? In America, we use it to water plants!" He had a laugh, but said it sold well. I never will understand why.

Now, that's a little unrealistic. Even our plants have better taste than that.
