To all my other fans in the Nordecke. I wish I was bring you good news but I am not. On Friday Jan 9th 2009 we lost one of the best security guards that i have ever had to deal with. He was never singing in the Nordecke or chanting along with us, but I cant not remember a crew game where I did not talk to him or shake his hand. He was a good guy and he let us get always with just about everything. http://www.legacy.com/dispatch/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=122740892 1962-2009
I never spoke with Mike, but from what I saw, he was someone who understood his job to be more than just security. I think he had an understanding of what the Nordecke meant to the Crew family. It's sad to see him go and I wish his family the best.
That's sad, was always a nice guy. I once feel and banged my head off the front row during a goal celebration and he wanted to make sure I got it checked out. Seemed to enjoy his job and always had a smile on his face.
Yeah. He seemed to be the guy who knew exactly how much leeway to give us. He knew that we weren't the "regular" Crew fan. Sometimes we'd give him some grief over something, and he knew we were just having a laugh. Many other security guys would have probably not taken our actions as simply messing around.
Man, lol during the Eastern Final he was a hawk! I can't whistle loudly (yet), so I had a Native American whistle made of bone that sounded close enough to a human whistle. In the MASSIVE crowd, he spotted me out and simply told me to stop it, you know as whistles are a no-no. Goes to show you how effecient he was at his job.
I will pray for his family during this time. It is sad but it does happen unfortunately. Thanks for being a great guy, Mike. You will not be forgotten.
Mike was a cool guys. One of the first people that met when began being on the field. He watched my back sometimes too from flying objects. He will be missed.
Exactly x 1000. Like I said, he knew when we were just laughing at something, compared to when someone really was about to go too far. He wouldn't charge into the section because someone was giving a middle finger to the opposing player.
I'm certain it would mean a lot to his family to receive some of these thoughts. Cotner provides a handy link for condolences. Only takes a minute. http://www.cotnerfuneralhome.com/Ob...jhtml?DB=obits&DO=display&ID=1231706826_30911
mike was a good guy, he will truly be missed. we always tried to get to mikes station at the bmv, he always made our time there somewhat more enjoyable, if that is possible. my favorite pic of mike was when he was leading the luchidore out of the stadia. rest in peace mike and may God look over your family and friends during these hard times.
