I think I speak for everyone when I say that this is just shocking. Absolutely unexpected in every way. Simply shocking.

technically we do not "know" who it is. the news (CBS) just said it is expected to be bobby, not that that it WAS bobby, the quote from the FO was that he has earned the right to be a coach in the league, not that he would be our coach. so really not official yet.

also, on the black and gold standard, anyone read the fantasy football report. Noonan got married on the the 20th. Congrats Pat! i wonder if our new coach will make any comments like Sigi did about Gaven.

Damn, would go if I was in Columbus. If anyone goes and wants to write up some thoughts about it and quotes feel free to send it to me.

I'll get you back with some beers or something else down the road.

Not a whole lot to say about it. MM made a statement wherein he pretty much said that over the past three years the club had worked hard to build a winning team and attitude and now they were going to keep it going with the next coach. Also said that there had been a lot of interest in the position over the past couple of months (interesting comment) but that they were looking for (list of characteristics that fit Bob like a glove) in a coach and there was only one guy who fit the bill.

Than they showed a short tribute to Bob which was a series of Crew related still photos of him with music after which MM announced Bob as the Fifth head coach of the Crew.

Bob didn't have a lot to say. He did get a bit choked up during his speech, you could tell from his demeanor before and after and during his speech this means a lot to him. He talked about how much the Crew means to him and his family and how great it was to see the Nordecke become "massive" this season. He also said that the goal was to repeat as champions.

Someone asked what would change about the Crew under him and Bob said not a lot. There were no public questions from the official press that was there although all of them interviewed him afterwards.

All three TV stations showed up to cover it as did 610 radio. Dante was there, Lapper was there, Ale was there, and the FO people.

    All told very low key.
