this is interesting, I must say. think it's true? if we had GBS and Palermo we would be unstoppably massive. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=857947&highlight=Martin+Palermo
Pipe dream* *Of course I thought the Crew ever winning a Cup under HSG was a pipe dream as well, so what the hell do I know?
think of it. we lose gaven in expansion. we sell or trade noonan. that's loads of cap space and room to make GBS a DP and hire Palermo to play with him. EDIT: plus it would inevitably give us a good following in Argentina. more money from shirt and gear revenue perhaps?
IMHO he'd be a better signing to us than what McBride is to Chicago, even though Palermo is a very YOUNG 35 years old.
In case you're keeping score, within 48 hours of the Crew finalizing the greatest season in their history, we have now had: - Multiple threads about Warzycha as our next coach - The thread where a Crew player's salary is used to throw him under the bus (in this case "Noonan isn't that good, a waste of money, blah blah") - A thread about HSG not spending enough money on the club - A Palermo thread No matter how much things change, they still remain the same.
Except that this time around there's a little bit of residual happiness, instead of the that dry heave taste, when discussing all of this.
He would easily win the MLS Golden Boot next season.* *If he's fully recovered from his season-ending knee injury, of course [/sarcasm]
A lot, and if you look at Revs boards, believe me, the fans are well aware. And before we get too smug, remember we passed on Christian Gomez in favor of Kyle Martino.
Oh, but how fast will a Schelotto and MLS title will make you forget and forgive never having a Gomez. What can NE say after not getting Schelotto. Nothing
Palermo has stated he would like to play in the US. He is 35 years old and recently injured that kept him out of the competitions for months. Boca is doing well enough without him and that train is rolling without him. Its not a pipe dream as GBS is in Columbus and that would only make sense. The timing might be perfect for Palermo to get into MLS. It will be like a martian landing on Earth for Palermo to Columbus but he might be ready for just that! I am thinking he is definitely warming up to the idea...
Read the quoted post there Sparky. That and the picture was a response to the comment about boosting MLS' image in Argentina.
What is wrong with you people? Do you expect to wake up with a hidden winning lottery ticket under your mattress??
