Default Quick question

Are the English leagues now subject to a transfer deadline at the end of August and a February window? Can't find any mention of it anywhere.

Yes, thats true.

I'm not sure of the exact dates but I think the current one ends August 31st and then the next transfer window will be in January.

I thought the first deadline (August 31st) pertained only to eligibility for the Champions League. You can sign a player after August 31st for domestic competition, but he cannot play in the first league round of the CL.

You guys seem as confused as I am

Anyone know if the deadline is for European competitions only or if there's one that applies to English leagues as well?

I had the impression that FIFA were forcing this two window system on them but no soccer sites seem to mention it. This morning I read that Escude will not be going to Man Utd because he's injured himself (walking his dog? ) and the transfer won't be concluded before the 31st August deadline. But it didn't say what that deadline referred to.
