Goalkeeper Matt Murray is out for at least 6 weeks with a stress fracture in his foot.
Fortunately, the FA has given permission for Wolves to sign a keeper for a loan period of 28 days, initially, though that period could be extended on further appeals. Today's Express and Star had Wolves linked with Oscar Moens of AZ Alkmaar in Holland, but the club has denied this. Fan speculation seems to focus on a couple of players:
-Fabien Barthez: Was supposed to go to Marsaille, but FIFA shot that down. If he's available, he might not be all that bad an idea. He's probably a little POd that Tim Howard stole his thunder at Man. U, and here he'd be closer to getting action than at Old Trafford. Issues are the Marsaille situation, and his wages.
-Pavel Srnicek
-Nickey Weaver from Manchester City and Carlo Nash from Boro have also been mentioned.
The club had brought in Saul Deeny from Notts County after their initial request for a dispensation was rejected, however, he let in a bad goal in a reserve loss to West Brom, and is probably not in the running for the slot.
If the intention is that someone will be brought in for the Birmingham match, the move would need to happen tomorrow at the latest.
