USNT TV Announcers
Now that the USNT displayed its world class abilities at WC2002, isn't it fair for us fans to expect world class announcing? Jack Edwards and Ty Keogh just aren't top-flight announcers worthy of the USNT. The both come accross as cheerleaders instead of announcers, and Mr. Keogh just doesn't provide any comments of value related to tactics and the flow of the game. Tommy Smyth provided both excitement and excellent explanations of tactics. Any way we can petition the Big Mouse (ABC/ESPN) to retain Smythe and pick up a better play by play guy?

no one, and i mean no one, wants to continue to hear jack and ty. however, i think convincing espn to change will be difficult. maybe, posssibly, if enough people complained to espn, they might listen.

Maybe if we could organize a year round, sumo tournament or Little League tournament, then ESPN would have to use him for those.

What would US Soccer be without Jack & Ty? I am certainly no fan of their announcing abilities, but they have become an integral and entertaining part of US matches. Some of the funniest BS threads are about those two.
I know there have been other threads about this (probably died with the crash) but who at ESPN could replace them? I would hope JP and Seamus Malin, but I don't think we could have a drinking game about their announcing.

Fast forward to 2032 World Cup opening game US v Australia at CMGI..
Jack: Finally the Aussies have made it to the big dance. It must feel like the twilight zone for the Kiwis as it's been 58 years since their last Cup sighting.
Ty: Sorry Jack it's the Socceroos not Kiwi's. Lets go down to Rob Stone with team captain Cobi Jones. Rob you there? Rob? Looks like Robs having trouble with his mike. Jack whats the word on coach Arena inserting Goose into the lineup at Left back? Jack where did he go?
ABC goes to break
Producer cuts in Dammit Ty fix your dentures your all muffled and someone go get Jack from the restroom. And for the last time someone make sure
Jack doesn't take his diuretics on gameday!
Some sh## will never change

Jack & Ty are contracted through IMG, US Soccer is responsible for who announces their games, not ABC or ESPN, though they do have to approve the announcers as well. Tommy Smyth's contract is with ESPN directly.

LOL. That was great. I particularly like the Cobi part.
I was flippin channels a while ago and I came across some SUMO wrestlin' on espn2. I swear it was Ty announcing. You would think we could get specialists for the USMNT.

so you mean to tell me us soccer controls jack and ty's fate? are you kidding me? us soccer let that crap be broadcast? jesus!
this is good news, however, as far as i can tell, because i think it would be easier to talk us soccer into a switch, as oppossed to espn. maybe i'm wrong though.
