Listened to it and then watched the replay. It was good to see Charlton play a full 90 minutes. There were too many opportunites though for them to score, while I am happy for the draw with Arsenal, after seeing how many shots they had, they were soo close to getting the full 3 points.

Default Charlton vs. Arsenal 26/10/03 [R]

I am quite satisfied with the single point as it was what I was hoping for. I'm only sad that we lost the other two from a free kick. Oh well....

What concerns me is that we've only got two strikers left in the first team. With injuries to Di Canio, Bartlett, Lisbie, Cole and Svensson who can give Euell and Johansson some help? Curbs usually carries two strikers on the bench but, because of all of the injuries, he only had Euell available as sub and he had to use him for Di Canio eliminating any chance of adding an extra striker yesterday when needed.

Andy Hunt comes back tonight to play for the reserves. You don't suppose they plan on prepping him for the first team on Saturday?

Any thoughts?

Here is the match report:

I think this was a good result. As previously mentioned, Curbs is doing a great job keeping this team together with the injuries that have hurt the team. Who would have thought that all four strikers would be hurt? Not me.

I heard they also brought back Mathias from Derby to make up for some injuries.

Hopefully Paolo just tweaked his hamstring and will be able to return in a few weeks. I am going over for the Fulham game so I hope he at least back for that one!

What do you all think of the Matt Holland diving accusations that are flying about?

Kishishev was MOTM , IMO. Couldn't figure what position he was playing though. Was he a def. mid for this game?

Svensson has been called back. He has gotten over his injury and was on the bench this past Saturday for Derby County.

I just watched the penalty call. It was no dive. It looked more like Matty was trying to avoid the collision and was clipped as he went by. It was a good call I think.

Kish had a huge game. He just seems to get better as he goes. He was playing right full back in place of the injured Luke Young.

I might add that that back four was solid. It was definitely Chris Perry's best game.

One thing that really was good was the way Matt Holland moved over to right wing and marked Pires all day. It was really sweet seeing Holland and Kish overlapping each other and causing problems for Ashley Cole. The right side was very threatening.

All in all, I can't complain about any of the players' performances. They really played good defense. Now if we could only score some goals....

I agree that our defense has really stepped up in the past few games (especially the Arsenal match) and that Chris Perry had a great game.

Also agree with the good call for Matty Holland. Everytime they show it, it still looks like there was contact. I did get a good laugh out of the headlines over there saying that Wenger got a dose of his own medicine (referring to Pires lovely dive).

Let's hope to keep our good form aganist Everton tomorrow night! Get back at them for pulling that draw a few months ago.
