Question Are you concerned?

I was listening to Capital Gold's commentary on Saturday and a couple of things are beginning to worry me.

First, is the fact that the commentators could not quit talking about the fact that Curbs will be headed to Spurs before the end of this international break. They kept saying it looks to be "a done deal". I realize that Spurs is stupid enough to pay the £5 million transfer fee that is in Curbs contract.

Why would Curbs risk going there? He might get a big five year contract and be out of work within two years. All he is doing is inviting a chance to ruin his reputation as a good manager once he is unsuccessful at Spurs. Seems stupid to me.

The other thing of concern is the on-going saga with Jason Euell. He was supposedly out because of an injury he picked in a reserve match. Yet commentator Billy Bonds said during the match that it was just a bunch of BS (and I don't mean Big Soccer). Something has gone really wrong between Curbs and Euell. Curbs blamed Euell for the second yellow card yet he never sits Scott Parker out when he has done the same thing in the past. We need Euell. He provides pace and muscle that can be used in the midfield. I know he doesn't like to play there, but he's better facing goal than playing with his back to it.

Some how I think these two things are related. A row with Euell, and perhaps some others as well (Konchesky comes to mind) is what is making Curbs think he needs to leave.

All I know is that I'm scared. There are so few managers out there that listen to their board, spend wisely and not cause controversy. I'm hoping Curbs stays and Euell returns.

Isn't Konchesky playing left wing at Spurs now anyway? I found that quite amusing.

Curbishley is willing to go to Spurs and take the risk of losing his reputation and his career, because he has some ambition and doesn't want to settle for easy but mediocre.

I just read an article saying that the loan deal has been extended on both Konchesky and Perry with both players looking to make the moves permanent. The hold up is the possiblity of Curbs going to Spurs as that might cause more problems between Konchesky and Curbs.

I, too, can't believe Paul is happy there playing left wing. Maybe he just wants to start every match.

There are two ways to look at the situiation with Curbs. He brings Charlton lots of stability and respectibility. The very fact that he has been linked with the Spurs shows how well he has come to be respected. This is a great thing for Charlton. Good managers produce good teams. The downside is that with success comes change. I hope that Curds does not leave, he and Charlton are tied together, I hope that it does not change.

The Euell affair is becoming stranger by the moment. I am not too sure what to make of it. I did not think that Euell would be the one being squeezed out of the starting line-up, but with Lisbie's run of good play, it appears that is happening.

Konchesky's loan extension is a sign that the move is becoming more perminant. Powell is adequate, but he is someone.

I noticed that too, especially when they were saying that he will be going out on a high note with the two back-to-back victories. I don't think it would be a wise move right now considering some of the off-season moves he has made. Also, would kinda be a slap in the face to Parker who he begged to stay at Charlton.

Hoping for a stron result aganist Blackburn this weekend!

I would have thought that something would have been done by now if Curbs was going to the Spurs. This past weekend would have been an ideal time to make the announcement. No matches, and an entire week with the new team. I hope it does not happen!
