Why so you support Bayern?
I've supported them for years now, and it all started when I went to my first Munich derby. Bayern won, and from then on I've supported them.
How about everybody else?

I spent a few weeks in Nandlestadt a few years ago (near Freising) and I've supported Bayern ever since. Since then I've been back twice and I'll likely be studying there in the spring of 2005.

One reason - Michael Ballack!
I consider myself a Player Fan and Not a Team Fan... and this is also why I support the Germany NT

My father is from Bavaria, the Allgau to be more specific. When we visited when I was young (70s), my uncle who was living in Munich showered me with Bayern Munich gear, flags, etc. and took me and my brother to the practice facilities and such.
Wasn't that interested in soccer in the 80s, but after college I went to Munich to study German and quickly picked up the soccer spectator bug after going to a very, very, very cold Stutgart-Bayern match. Been an avid supporter ever since.
Funny thing is that my father grew up an 1860 fan, but after so many years away from Germany isn't all that interested in soccer.

My father is from Magdeburg (formerly East Germany) but migrated to Rheinburg after the War which is about 20 mins from Holland. Therefore traditionally I should be supporting Fortuna Dusseldorf or some other lowly team but somehow found my way to Munich, here's how.
I wasn't born in Germany and so could not really watch the Bundesliga but have followed the German national team ever since I can remember and never really got into club football untill after World Cup 90 because of Juergen Klinsmann. He was playing for Inter (brilliant team back then) and I supported him where ever he played untill he ended up at Bayern. From there I just decided Bayern were my team and have never thought otherwise for almost 10 years.
Very unusual way to become a supporter but that's the truth

It's very simple. 1974, I was six years old (going on seven ), and Germany had just won the WC. Bayern's players on the team were Beckenbauer, Hoeness, Breitner, Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier, and Schwarzenbeck. Bayern then won the CL (not called CL back then) three times in a row. How could I not fall in love with that as a boy. Plus, growing up near Frankfurt I was surrounded by complete *#*#*#*#*#*#*#s--not that Frankfurt fans are *#*#*#*#*#*#*#s by birth, but the ones at my school were nothing but hateful *#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#s (many of whom later joined the Adlerfront). That made being a Bayern fan even more enjoyable.

This is exactly my reasoning as well. Klinsmann can do no wrong in my eyes.
After I started following FCB, I became a big Scholl fan. Then Kahn, Elber, Jancker and now Ballack.
I've been to two FCB matches- one at the Olympiastadion and one against FC Porto in Porto.
The longer I go, the more addicted to Bayern i've become. Like a drug, I guess...

My reason is the same as Syncope's. I was young, saw the Germans play and win the WC in 1974, and was so impressed I started supporting the team that a lot of Germany's best players were on- Bayern. I've never looked back since then.
