It has plenty to do with LFC. If Man fails to make the group stage, it will allow them to focus on the domestic schedule and make it tougher for LFC to win the title.
But still sweet none the less. I guess Fergie is going go down swinging with an in effective Veron.

actually it has a LOT to do with Liverpool
if either man yoo, inter or bayern drop out at this stage it means we go in as 8th seeds! (therefore avoiding big clubs in group stage)

as for getting a better champions league seed if manutd goes out in the qualifying phase, i've never been much for worrying about that. the purpose of getting into champs league is to play the best. so, let's play the best.
as for manutd being able to concentrate on the premiership if they go out in the champs league qualifying phase, i'm not sure they'll be able to concentrate on much of anything at that point. the season will be a disaster for them no matter what happens after. that's guaranteed by all the money spent on ferdinand for the express purpose of chasing champs league success and the accompanying financial rewards.
as for any of US gloating over this game, i'd say the chester city result indicates we have our own worries. don't obsess over manutd. it's boring. i hate 'em, sure. but i generally ignore things i don't like.
