Arsenal v Aston Villa 30/11/02
Hi, I'm new to the board...
I'm planning on a trip to the UK in late November and I'd like to scrounge up two tickets to the Arsenal-Aston Villa match on November 30.
Checked with brokers and they're asking over $165 per ticket to start... would rather not go that high but I would pay more than face value (a "courtesy fee"?)
Any tips on where I might look for tix, or anyone on the board who might have a couple of extras?

rcjsd,
Hi, and welcome to the board. Are you familiar with Arsenal America? If not, check us out at www.arsenalamerica.com
I'm the president, and while we don't own season tickets, we have been able in the past to help out members who were looking for a ticket or two.
Send me an email with your details and I'll try to help.

I'm heading over for that game to and have been looking into obtaining a ticket. I called a single ticket broker and was quoted 175 pounds. I laughed out loud. The Arse Am boys pointed me to some informative information on the site about garnering tickets. Useful stuff, should check it out.
Since you're going to be over there, maybe we can grab a beer game day.

I could email you the contact info of a broker I dealt with last year when I went. I got tickets for the season opener vs Leeds for £60 and could've gotten cheaper tickets if I wanted worse seats. Got tickets for the following Saturday's match vs Leceister for £45. Maybe prices are higher since we're double winners, but can't imagine they are that much higher.

Guide to tickets and scalping
Have you checked out ArsenalAmerica's ticket guide?
http://www.arsenalamerica.com/tickets/
Based on a few years of dealing with brokers, the ticket office and a few touts (so we've been told because we never deal with them).
Any price you are quoted "over the ocean" is far and away too much. Not only do you have the "american accent" premium but also the tourist rate.
Anyway, check this out and let us know if you have any other suggestions.

This sounds more like it. You should be able to get tickets from a tout for double face value or less. As it's not against one of the top teams, you should have no trouble.

Thanks!
Wow, active board. Thanks for all the info!
I have checked out the ArsenalAmerica tips. If it were just me going I would probably just hang out outside and try to find a ticket... but since it's my wife and I I'm hoping to find tickets in advance of our trip. I figure it'll cost more, but £175 is ridiculous. I'd watch the match in a pub instead.
I went to a match against Southampton back in 1998 I don't recall seeing too many touts around. Are they readily available? We'd bought seats from a broker beforehand so we were all set, but the seats were terrible (next to last row in the first level of the East Stand - like watching the game through a tunnel!) Still, it was a great experience.
rifkin - would definitely be interested in that contact info - can you email it to me via this site?

By the way, here's a link to the travel deal we got - six nights including air, in the cheapest hotel the cost was $906 for two from JFK. They put us on United, here's hoping they don't go out of business before then. There's 10 different hotels available.

You can also check out www.ticketmaster.co.uk. If an Arsenal match isn't a sellout they go on sale on this website. I bought Arsenal Champs League tickets on this site a couple of years ago.

I have 3 season tickets and 2 Ticket Registration Cards, and "know" other people where I can usually get tickets.
Rick, the President of "ArsenalAmerica" is well aware of my ability to help out fellow fans at getting tickets at face value. This service is ongoing throughout the season so give me a call and I can see what I can do.
