Michael Ballack was elected player of the year 2002. He won with 433 votes, runners up were Oliver Kahn (345) and Miroslav Klose (35).

Coach of the year is Klaus Toppmöller with 396 votes. Runners up are Matthias Sammer (163) and Rudi Völler (161).

Birgit Prinz (1.FFC Frankfurt, now Carolina Courage) is female player of the year with 455 votes, runner up Steffi Jones (1.FFC Frankfurt, now Washington Freedom, 70 votes).
