And another makes eleven new players this summer!
Blackpool FC have just announced the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers Welsh international defender Rob Edwards on a two year contract with an option for a further year.
His signing has been strongly rumoured for the past few days and he is in my opinion a very good signing.
That now makes ELEVEN new players coming in this pre-season. Of course we released eleven players at the end of last season and have since sold Kaspars Gorkss and Wes Hoolahan. However, most of the eleven players released were not regular first teamers, and the players who have come in will give the squad much more depth which was really lacking last season, and we are now signing quality players.
A full list of all the players signed is
Matthew Gilks, goalkeeper. Signed from Norwich City
Marlon Broomes, defender. Signed from Stoke City
Zeshan Rehman, defender. Signed on a six month loan from QPR with a vuew to a permanent move.
Mohammed Camara, defender. Signed on a short term loan until the end of August as cover for left-back Stephen Crainey with a view to a permanent move if he does well.
Alex John-Baptiste, defender. Signed from Mansfield Town - one for the future who should if handled well have a good career.
Joe Martin, midfielder/defender. 19 year old signed from Tottenham Hotspur, definitely one for the future, but who will surely play a part this season too.
Adam Hammill, midfielder. Signed on a six month loan .from Liverpool (hopefully will stay the full season)
David Vaughan, midfielder. Signed from Spanish club Real Sociedad and seen by many as Hoolahans replacement and maybe better (we can but hope!)
Jermaine Wright, midfielder. Signed when he was released by Southampton as part of their cost cuttine measures.
Steve Kabba, striker. Signed on a six month loan from Watford with a view to a permanent move in January.
Daniel Nardiello, striker. Signed from QPR.
And of course Rob Edwards, which also makes three Welsh internationals now at the club with him, Nardiello and Vaughan!

Reminds me of a Dr. Who episode where the good doctor "regenerates." The team has "regenerated" before our eyes!

It has indeed and right now I really don't know what the strongest line-up would be if we had a fully fit squad!

Re: And another makes eleven new players this summer!
Since we've talked so much the last few weeks about new players for the Seasiders, I thought I would give an update on a former player who had/has ties to both Blackpool and the Houston Dynamo: Paul Dalglish.
After being released by the Dynamo at the end of last season, Paul and his new bride left the US for trials with several teams in England and Scotland.
From his Wikipedia page:
Quote:
He had talks with a few clubs in February 2008 including Scottish club Kilmarnock, with whom he signed a contract till the end of the season but his spell was plagued with injuries again and has now left the club.
Paul is now injury free and was in talks with several SPL clubs in Scotland but has now retired at the age of 31. He moved back to the US to pursue a career in coaching where he is currently working with the Houston Dynamo academy. Paul is tipped to be a real success in coaching due to his energy and passion for the game. He will be hoping to have the same success as Darren Ferguson who also followed in his legendary, Scottish father's footsteps. Paul has now started his Braveheart Soccer Camps in the Houston area.

Apparently, there's more to the story. It seems his wife wasn't fond of the cold Scottish clime and asked to return to the balmy Gulf coast of the US.

Re: And another makes eleven new players this summer!
Firstly I just realised that I've lost count with the number of new players as it is now twelve not eleven!!!
Glad to see Paul Dalglish is doing well and I don't blame his wife wanting to move back to Houston! Parts of Scotland are most definitely scenic and beautiful but it would be a huge shock in the difference with the weather!
And sorry but "Braveheart" Soccer Camp??? Worst film ever a dreadful film full of huge historical inaccuracies (well lies basically) by Mel "I hate England" Gibson.

LOL - yeah Mel is a piece of work! It's all just marketing really - sell the product, worry about the truth later.
