David Vaughan
Signed from Spanish club, Real Sociedad, he has signed a two year contract with an option for a further year for a transfer fee of £200,000.
Born on 18 February 1983 in Rhuddlan, Denbighshire, Wales. Current age 25. He is 5ft 7in and plays as a midfielder.
Vaughan started his career at Crewe Alexandra in 2000 initially as an attacking full-back but was switched to left-sided midfield by Crewe manager Dario Gradi. He made 185 league appearances for Crewe scoring 18 goals, including a season spent in the Championship.
On 17 August 2007 he signed for Spanish Second Division club Real Sociedad then under former Fulham manager Chris Coleman, as they looked to regain their place in the Primera Liga. After Coleman left, Vaughans opportunities in the first team were limited and he made just seven league appearances for the Basque club, scoring one goal.
He has played for Wales at Under-20 and Under-21 levels and made making his full debut in 2003 against the United States. He has made 13 appearances for his country.
Vaughan is seen as a skilful player not scared to take on players, has a good range of passing and long range shots. He was nicknamed the Welsh Wizard by Crewe fans. (Much like Wes Hoolahan and his Irish Magicican tag). He will probably be expected by 'Pool fans to replace the "wizadry" of Wes Hoolahan. Certainly a midfield with Vaughan and Hammill in it will be interesting to say the least.
