"My wife, children and I attended the FC Dallas game July 27 against the LA Galaxy and superstar David Beckham. We were impressed by the variety of Beckham shirts worn by fans from Manchester United to Real Madrid(what a variety! 2 teams!) We looked forward to a rousing game and wished Beckham the best, but naturally wanted FC Dallas to prevail. I supposed however Beckham's fam and familiarity have spawned contempt as he was often booed and met with chants of "overrated" and "go back to England" I have tried to instill in my children good sportsmanship, which to me means you can cheer as long and as loud as you want for your team but also show respect to the other team. I felt particularly bad for the young kids in our section wearing Beckham shirts who seemed perplexed by the vitriol directed at Beckham. While soccer hooligans are renowned in England, sadly, their spirit has traveled across the sea. We are, I fear, the worse for it. Gary Wayne Tucker, Dallas. LOLOL Overrated chants and boos=hooliganism. Guess hooliganism has taken over most American sports.
Dear Gary Wayne Tucker, At the risk of crossing someone whose name suggests future serial killer, I would like to point out one simple reason why your letter has made even those of us halfway across the country laugh out loud today: those horrific chants and boos you note were being directed at AN OPPONENT, which - last I checked - was better than directing them at the home team. Believe it or not, this is the way things work at sporting events here in this country, too - not just across the pond. Perhaps it would be a good idea to get out a bit more (say, to another FCD match when Mr. Beckham and his traveling circus are not in town), and to stop attempting to insulate your children from the real world. Signed, Someone tired of the Disneyfication of our country and the Beckhamfication of every single soccer crowd that gathers in it
Glad you posted that. I saw that and new we would all get a laugh over that. Do those people ever go to any other professional sporting events?
That is much better than the ignorant, aluminum-foil-hatted rednecks that fight back and forth in my local paper.
I posted this in MLS General but I feel like I need to say it again: Oh boy. These are the same people who probably go to Cowboys games and boo the hell out of the other team's stars or to Stars games and yell at Red Wing players but do the same at a soccer game and OHHH NOOO you're a bad sport. This attitude shocks me. Have people like this never been to any other American sporting event where the other team's superstar player has been booed? And as far as the Beckham jersey thing goes, my God that drives me nuts. Hey kid, would you wear a Brett Favre or Steve Young jersey to watch the 'Boys? No of course not, even if you respect him. When I was a kid I really liked the way Jim Kelly and Dan Marino played the game but when they lined up against my Patriots they were the enemy. Somehow though, again, when it's soccer then it is different. These people need to understand it's not different, it's just like any other American professional sport. You don't want to boo? Don't boo. Tell your children whatever you'd like, they're your kids and that's your business. But don't played the shocked innocent when others boo the other team's stars.

Gary Wayne Tucker needs to pay his bar dues. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/052407dnbussquat.36d3ea8.html "Mr. Tucker, who has represented Texas International Property Associates in cybersquatting disputes, didn't return calls for comment. Mr. Tucker can't practice law in Texas, according to records of the State Bar of Texas, as he has been suspended for not paying dues since Sept. 1, 2005."
This is like a World Record Catch, Oman... Damn, awesome stuff. Reptacular!! So, yeah, I might have been wrong about this guy being a serial killer. Now, mass murder might be more his style...
Our friend here was practicing law in April 2008 so my guess is he finally paid his dues. If not, the plaintiffs in the linked lawsuit, Microsoft, would've been all over his ass in a heartbeat.
Wasn't Gary Wayne Tucker the guy that got a pick ax stuck in his head by Karla Faye Tucker, the woman who used to be on death row, but found Jesus? Seriously, I will but that guy a ticket to sit in the north end of Robertson Stadium, and hope to see the letter he write to the Houston Chronicle!
I'm not a fan, but I don't really agree with singling Beckham out like that. He's good for the MLS, imo. With that said, that guy who wrote the letter needs to take the time to teach his family to have some tough skin.
You write a stupid letter like that to the editor and you pretty much open yourself up to any kind of ridicule you can find on the net. Besides, it's not like he posts here or that anyone has said anything to him directly. I would hardly call it stalking.
Do you not remember what happened last time he was here? Between the whole taunting Serioux as he was escorted off thing and shushing Inferno, the guy got exactly the treatment he deserved. Back on topic, Gary Wayne Tucker is an idiot. I would hope that someone who has a way with words sends a response to the editor on the lines of KaptPowers post, in order to point that out.
OH! You have pics I haven't seen then! Of course, I guess you already knew about his Man-Love Manual, right?
No, that was a mistake. He's really a member of the National Association of Marlon Brando Look Alikes.
Look, it only took me about 30 minutes to get this joke, but I got it, oh boy, did I get it. OMG. I feel so dirty!
