Default Steve Kabba profile

Steve Kabba

Signed on a six month loan from Watford.

Born on 7 March 1981 in Lambeth, London. Current age 27. He is a striker.

Kabba started out in Crystal Palace youth team and signed his first professional contract with the club in 1998. However, he could not break into the first team on a regulr basis and was sent out on loan to Southend United (2000), Luton Town (2002) and Grminsby Town (2002). In 14 league starts at Grimsby he scored 6 goals.

However, in 2002, after making just 10 league appearances for Crystal Palace, he moved to Sheffield United for £250,000. He scored 11 goals in 33 games in his first season with the Blades as they reached two cup finals and the First Division Play-Off Final. He then suffered a series of leg injuries which restricted him to just one substitute appearance in over a year. He finally returned to full fitness at the end of the 2004-05 season. However, in December 2006 he was put on the transfer list with 7 other players and joined Watford in January 2007 for £500,000. He had made 78 league appearances f(46 starts and 32 as a sub) for Sheffield United scoring 17 goals, but did not play in the Premiership for the Blades.

He made his debut for Watford in the Premiership against Manchester United on 31 January 2007 and scored his first goal in nearly two years in a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on 2 February. He has made 25 appearances for Watford, 13 as a starter and 12 off the bench.

Kabba becomes Simon Graysons first striker signing of the summer. He joins Ben Burgess and Stephen McPhee. The only other striker at the club currently being 18 year old Danny Mitchely who has been proficient for the Youth and Reserve teams but has not as yet even featured in the first team squad. Andy Morrell has as yet not signed a new contract and may or may not sign. It does look likely that Kabba will be a first choice striker.

He sounds like a good addition. Scoring more goals will be essential if 'pool's defense is weakened by the potential loss of Gorkss (which we hope doesn't happen!)

Kabba hasn't done well at Watford where he has scored just one goal. However, without meaning to be rude about Watford, they played hoofball last season and maybe that didn't suit him. He certainly did ok when he was at Sheffield United.

Funny aside - when away teams come to Bloomfield Road and "hoof" the ball up from defence, the 'Pool fans let out a long mocking "hhhooofff". When Watford came up for the last game of the season, they played so much "hoofball" that the fans just started shouting "hhhooofff" every time a Watford player touched the ball.
